Definitely would like to thank everyone in Agony for dedicating their time and having the patience to making this kind of stuff possible. I learned a couple more things still, even as alumnus, and the roam was pretty epic (a bit long, but then there were opportunities to leave earlier, so anyone who stayed only has himself to blame :P). Thanks SkrewedUp for the class, Gizznitt for FCing, and all the scouts and skirmishers for risking their ships to keep us safe and get us kills (and Aether for demonstrating how extra 5% hull can make a difference :)). And really, perhaps you guys want to think about a battlecruiser class? Like, PVP-ULTIMATE? :P

Amazing course!!! Highly recommend to anyone remotely interested at combat and/or survival in EVE.

Great lecture by SkrewedUp, who reviewed and clarified materials from pre-class readings in organized, easily understood and responsive manner. Highly educational and well-led nullsec roam by Gizznitt with impressive and dedicated support from Caldak, Emilia, AEther, Oli and all of you too numerous for me to recall :D .

Learned most from nullsec roaming portion of the course and some of the best moments since playing EVE. For anyone who spends time digesting vast resources on forums, course roaming provided invaluable demonstration and first-handed application of acquired knowledge. Gizznitt’s instructions were clear, precise and kept great cohesion of an unacquainted group with inexperienced pilots. As a first-timer in nullsec, witnessed my 1st warp bubble, gate camp, engagements with 50+ pilots and amazingly survived :P .

Special thanks go to all supporting Agony pilots and alumni for setting a prime example on proper scouting, reporting, providing security and setting role models during the 10 hour roaming marathon. AEther’s demonstration on how to remain cool, update critical info and provide tanking in face of imminent destruction is most inspiring. Love to attend future PvP Basic as alumni and looking forward to Wolfpack.

Note to future students: pre-class preparation is a must if plans to get the most out of this course. Definitely absorb as much info as possible from Agony’s pre-course readings and forums such as http://www.battleclinic.com/'>BattleClinic.com. In my opinion, Agony Unleashed PvP Basic is most valued as a hand-on workshop.

Great course/experience and looking forward to return as alumni and taking advanced courses. One suggestion on the roam, since I was having trouble with the FC's volume, would be to have one of the Agony members text in the commands in fleet chat.

Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed having you all in class yesterday. It did go a little over on time but it seemed good. Oli, Aether, Tokatu and TeaDaze all did a great job as support during the instruction part (there were actually over 20 Agony pilots active during the class). I wish that I could have stayed around for the roam, it sounds like another epic one. I would HIGHLY suggest that you move on and come to our Wolfpack's class. Basic is very basic but wolfpacks really starts to get into the meat of things and you can't believe how fun a destroyer gang can be. I will be officially announcing a wolfpacks on June 27 in the next couple of days with Dr Oozy and myself teaching it. If you feel like you want to cover the class material more or join the roam again you are welcome to come back as Alumni to future PVP-BASIC classes, sign-up up on the thread. There is no cost and we do limit alumni based on vent space (there's only 100 vent slots) but I have yet to see us not have a slot for alumni.

I'll add my kudo's to those for everyone else! Skrewed did an awesome job, as well as Gizz and all of the scouts. It was fascinating to hear the scouting reports and the coordination that takes place; I'd vastly underestimated that piece of the operation. Once again, can't wait for Wolfpacks, and maybe to come back for a roam in the next BASIC class!

Class and Practical:

The information was easy to understand presented with a logical flow. Though some of the material we went over was presented in the wiki material I personally thought the time spent by the instructor on reinforcement was warranted. The material covered was, of course, rather basic but I believe for the scope and intended target audience it seemed to hit the mark.

Fleet movement, procedure , and vent etiquette was described well enough that the class was able to function on the roam properly.

The Roam

The roam was great fun and a valuable learning experience. The FC, skirmishers, and scouts did a great job. It was impressive to see you all manage a group of students coming from many different organizations all with varying PvP experience with such ease. All of the Agony members on the roam represented themselves and the Agony organization well and I was left with a very good impression.

I learned alot in this phase of the class ... there is only so much you can learn from talking and actually getting out there and doing it garnered insights to numerous to list in full. Fleet movement and procedure felt like second nature in short order and I found my unease in null sec giving way to excitement quickly under the guidance of our FC. I learned more than I thought you could just listening to comms from scouts and skirmishers. Overall I left with a great understanding of the basics of how a roaming fleet operates as well as being able to identify some holes in how I had my overview and general interface setup. I was hoping that we got involved in a few more pitched battles and longer engagements but apparently it was a rather quiet night for that region.

Wiki / Class Suggestions:

How you have interface setup is obviously a matter of personal preference but one thing that might be useful is to perhaps have a small section about useful hot keys for frigate combat. After the class I felt there were some gains to be made and started looking at them a little closer to try and hot key some of the more frequently used and cumbersome click commands.

I could repeat everything that has been said positively and it would be just icing on an already overloaded cake. Thoroughly enjoyed this class. Excellent instruction and practical, the roam was a blast. Yeah I died horribly on the first gate camp (few escaped unscathed) but did not get podded and rather than self destruct, I felt it important to run with the fleet back to Serranon, as that experience is also part of Eve. The scouts, what can I say, well done folks. FC - outstanding. I will be back for a Basic as Alumnus and will be signing up for Wolfpack and future advanced courses as time allows. Man the stuff I learned ! ! ! ! ! Thank you AGONY, ya done good.

I had a great, yet exhausting time. I found the roam to be a great deal of fun and a big thank you to the scouts and skirmishers and Gizznitt who all put in a huge amount of effort. I had some technical difficulties on my end, which cut down on the fun a bit. I was experiencing a fair amount of lag, and I am still not sure if it is my computer, my internet or just being on the other side of the world. My internet seems to go funny when it rains *shrug*. One point of constructive criticism. Some of the theory at the start relating to what module does what was covered quite well in the prereading. Perhaps it could be done in less detail during the course, although my learning style is reading focused, so I guess I am only talking about it from my perspective. Anyway, thanks a lot. I look forward to the next opportunity to fly with AGONY pilots.

The class was well organised and the teacher explained everything in detail and answered the questions in a way that everybody (even the persons with no expertise in that matter) was able to understand it, when he was not sure of an answer he passed on the word to a specialist in his team. I was really amazed about the level of professionalism. Where I found that big chunks of the wiki where repeated in class I found it a necessary evil, some people didn't read the wiki that well or forgot about some things. This assured that the fleet was well prepared and everybody was up to date on all topics. The practical was a nice warm up of the fleet and in this way everybody was able to the hang of it. The roam was outstanding, I admire how calm the FC kept when half of his fleet jumped in the system while he didn't give the command to jump. Don't know any FC in the game that does this and I've flown with quite some. The recons where outstanding in doing their job. Looking forward to the next classes.

First, I would like to thank all the agony members that participated in the class and especially in the roam just to give us pvp noobs some taste of pvp. [ of course you mates have it backwards; the first taste is supposed to be free THEN you charge the isk not the other way around ;) ] For the class and practical, in general I found it pretty straightforward, for me the explanation about the directional scanner and some of it uses was particularly useful as I have never really bothered before to understand it. I appreciate that is not easy to build a curriculum for so many simultaneous students with different background and level of familiarity with eve and the topic where I believe most people were having difficulty understanding was the orbiting and angular velocity vs tracking speed mechanics, maybe a more detailed article in the preparation material might help students follow the instructor more easily. I found the roam to be a big learning opportunity, as some people have already said it is too bad our first engagement was also the most difficult. I (and I think most of the students) panicked, forgot completely that had 30 sec cloak to orient myself, understand the situation and follow the FC instructions instead just moved around, lost cloak, got targeted and destroyed. I am convinced that if we had a repeat of that battle toward the end it would have been much different. For me the most valuable lessons of the roam were dispelling some of the "mystique" about 0.0 space and by the end I felt I had a better grasp of what the FC was doing with the scouts, and the type of reports they were making. I might be wrong, but my read on the length of the roam was that your mates felt bad about the relative low pickings and were trying to make it up/ trying to find more targets. I really appreciate the effort, and once more would like to thank all the agony members that donated their time for the class, I guess I'll just have to attend some other roam as alumni to get my fix :).

Enjoyed the class. Probably one of the most important lessons I learned was to scout and setup bookmarks in a system that you will be roaming in. Without "A TACs" (spelling?) on gates and stations, pvp/traveling becomes much more difficult. The only sad part is that we didn't really go into the "process" of bookmarking a system, and i think that could be something of value to add to the theory portion. Wolfpacks on the 27th? Girlfriends b-day, so I won't be able to make that one... hopefully one that works with my schedule will come along. Probably gonna try to come as an alumni to basics soon though.
