Battlecruiser 5 + all large guns / missiles spec 4, waiting to see which one will be OP :P To be honest, the Tornado sounds a bit like a BC sized nano-Tempest, so I'm not sure how much of an addition it'll actually be. The final specs will hopefully give a better picture.

Also it must be noted that they are not T3 battle cruisers but tier 3 battle cruisers. Subtle wording difference I think. Smantis

and not sure if they are T3 BCs or just Tier 3 BCs. If I am reading the devblog correctly it is just another Tier verses Tech 3. If it IS Tech 3..then you can bet the amount of skill requirements will be even higher then T3 strat cruisers

Terrible wording on my part...sorry. Also, the Tornado kind of looks like someone jacked a Myrmidon, installed its Inertial Navigation System upside down (whoops), and is cruising around in reverse...

Sounds dumb. Another solution in search of a problem in a game with plenty of problems in search of solutions. I hate it when CCP panders to the 'NEEDZ NEW SHIPZ!!!' crowd. There are plenty of ships. Fix the ones that are horribly underpowered/overpowered and fix game mechanics, don't introduce new ships unless it's for a specific role that isn't already adequately filled. If you want variety, sell skins for ISK.

If you want variety, sell skins for ISK.


To be fair a little bit of new ship love isn't necessarily a bad thing. It has been a long time since we have seen a non industrial, non capital ship added to EVE. Plus it has the potential to fill quite a few holes in the lineup of Gallente and Amarr ships (and some possible holes in Caldari, Minmatar is pretty well covered in this role).

Seems like a perfect way of adding more firepower to nano fleets, personally I'm looking forward to seeing the final stats.

Hopefully there is some serious testing re balance. Yeah I know thats naive it will end up OP for first year or so if CCP are normal. New ships are always good though.

I think dropping a nano for a gyro is a perfectly adequate way of adding more firepower to nano fleets.

Adding more ship diversity to a game that CCP has fully demonstrated itself completely incapable of balancing properly after 8 years is farcical on its face.

But being right as often as I am, I am seldom in the majority. If they prove me wrong in this case I will be that much happier.

Adding a gyro is not at all equivalent to having BS-sized guns (not to mention people already tend to have 2-3 gyros anyway, so you're pretty maxed out), and doesn't address the added range in BS guns either. As far as balancing goes, tbh compared to most mmos EVE is actually pretty damn well balanced. Things change over time, but lately CCP's been doing a pretty good job keeping things balanced imo.

I cant wait a buff to AF's and a new bc there cant hit them... count me in. I just hope that they cant fit medium neuts.

But i should train Large Projectiles V, so i have all races covered with BC 5 and t2 large weapons.

I can see you argument, but i must say i think they found a niche where there was room for a ship more.

Also i cant wait for the tears when people realize this is the perfect suicide gank ships.

First of all, o/ Meldgaard, glad to see you are still teaching people lessons in how to fly solo Ishkurs. B) 2nd - if this means I can bring the Tier 3 Gallente to a typical HSSR shield BC gang and not be: a> slowest on the field and b> shortest in range (not a great combo as we all know) then I'll be happy. Until then, I will I suppose resort to Shield A/C Nano-Myrms... though putting those disgusting rusty trash guns on my beautiful Myrm hull still upsets <my toon> a great deal.

Being a battlecruiser, I'd guess probably 30-40 million. It'll have to be more than the tier 2 battlecruisers are (around 25 million isn't it) but also needs to be less than the tier 1 battleships (45-60 million depending, though it's been some months since I've purchased one). Suicide ganker was the first thing that popped into my head: battleship guns plus low tank equals gank ship. Just doing a little extrapolation right now using an Apoc hull in EFT, I wind up with 6x 1400mm T2 howitzers with RF ammo and 4x T2 gyrostabs giving ~8700 alpha. I'm assuming that they won't have 8 hardpoints, so I'm guessing 6 (down from the 7 that the tier 2 have) and the reduced tank makes me guess one less mid/low slot (which is used for tanking). So, I guessed 5 low slots for a Tornado with 6 turrets. We'll have to wait and see for the actual specs, as a damage bonus could make that even higher and different configurations could change everything.
Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?

We couldn‘t just give the Minmatar a new ship and leave the other factions out (NPC military escalation doesn’t work like that), so, in the spririt of mutually assured destruction, each of the factions have sent their best engineers and scientists to the drafting boards and will also be rolling out a new tier 3 battlecruiser.

Also, they want a lot of people to actually fly these ships, so making it that expensive would make no sense.

But when reviewing the armadas of existing ships we came to the conclusion that it would make much more sense to add another tier of battlecruisers instead of a fourth battleship tier, and that the accessibility of bc skills would mean more of these ships might be in the hands of younger, brasher pilots. That means more pew pew pew overall.
