Thanks guys Very Fun. I can't wait to do it again. Very patient instructors. Sorry to whichever fleetmate I mistakenly blew up B) The only thing I think could be expanded upon would be overview settings. I understand you could do a class on it by itself, but I still think a little more time could have been spent on that section. Doesn't hurt to tip your instructors guys.

While I am sure everything would have been much better without the gate bug. It was still a very good time. And since there were few targets at first it allowed me to practice what we went over in class and I know I was much better and faster that the end then the start. I actually remembered to sprial in on those long range targets at the end of the roam. Great time overall.

Every instructor tonight did a fantastic job with this class. It was very professionally run, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm sorry the "jump" bug got in the way of things, but nonetheless I got a taste of what PvP is like. Seeing as how I'm coming from an industrial background, and that's all i've done since I started in EvE a year ago, I've not had much experience with PvP at all, and you guys were able to show me yet another side of EvE. I learned things I would have never gotten from reading online, such as using the tactical overlay, and arranging the windows on the screen to allow for "gutter". I also want to point out that everyone was very helpful before the class too, especially SkrewedUp, and Weeks for helping me along getting things prepared for the class. You guys have a great university environment, and I learned a lot. I'll be back for more, I'm already considering coming back for another class soon. Jorshan

I was impressed at the knowlege and professionalism (sp?) that was put into this class. All the instructors knew thier subjects and presented them in a way that was understandable. The roam, even with the deadly gate syphillus bug, was outstanding. I truly havent had this much fun since playing EVE. :amazed:

Thank you to Agony folks who made this a great class to attend. From well paced theory lessons by Dr Oozy to practical by Caldak and tireless cov ops pilots who got us on some nice kills. Great job! Pity about the bug but luckily this will hopefully be fixed for next week's Wolfpacks class :) Cya soon.

I'm not sure I can say anything that hasn't already been said. Tremendous fun. It is truly amazing how much strength there is in those numbers. Even when just a handful of us had a lock on a target, at the start of an engagement, the target shut down, unable to retaliate in any meaningful way. With that kind of tactic, even without the total DPS, a much smaller fleet could whittle down bigger targets. I cant wait to take more classes, and fly with you guys more as an alumni. Instructors are top notch, and kept things moving smoothly even with the gate bug. Thanks thanks thanks.

Dunno, it's been a fun class, fun roam even despite the jump bug, i learned much more than i expected, so can't really complain :P

A few things in wiki might need to be checked for being up to date, and during the lecture the instructor was speaking a tad too fast for my tastes - though i'm not a native speaker, so maybe it's just me. One or two questions in the class were a bit ambiguous...

But those are just fine points. The main complaint is that the class it too damn rare, and too damn hard to get into :P

Actually, the signup process could use the most improvement. Moderately simple automated interface for it would be ideal. And it would be kinda nice to see enrollment confirmation sooner (at least for this class, the general feeling was lack of certainty on whether the class will even happen).

This was very nice review after long brake (about 2 years mostly skill change). But even though I almost all time fly in 0.0 I don't know some thinks. I was very disappointment when I need log off in 1am Eve time (3 am in Libya)- but I start work Sunday at 8 am then... I could tell with the hand on my heart that in your gang I feel like in old good time. In fleet FC, scouts, and skirmishers present full professionalism and composure - I know than in action isn't easy to keep cold blood. Personally I'm very happy because before my brake I specialized in recon - when I back I receive information that cov ops isn't helpful and I stop fly this ship, after yesterday/today fleet I know that this wasn't true... 8) Once more time big thanks for all...

I'd echo pretty much everyone's sentiment that this was a professionally executed class. Certainly at no point did I think that I was wasting my ISK or my time attending. Dr Oozy seems to be a devil for the details and his co-instructors backed him up in their area's very well; Caldak seems to be that kind of 'inglorious basterd' FC that you dont want to have on your tail very often, he is a superb tactical thinker and displays a huge amount of situational awareness that most of us could only dream about. The rest of the gang on the practical did well to put up with this crappy gate bug and honestly, it didnt really bother me too much. A special word to Mr Darkwind - general of the sneaky SOB's, if I ever see you on local, I is running for hisec! I'll hopefully see some of you guys next week on Wolfpacks (all nighter for me, but undoubtedly worth it).

I really enjoyed the theoretical part, and the roam was really professionally handled. I didn't feel that I got as much out of the roam as I would have liked, but that was mainly due to the gate bug (I think I logged about 9 times in 4 hours!) and the fact that I had fitted rockets, and was never really in range to use them. However I still enjoyed myself, and will be going out as alumnus on another course soon, to see if I can improve on my previous performance. I have also signed up for wolfpacks having seen how good Basic was.

The last time I flew with a FC/scouts that good was 5+ years ago in Space Invaders. I really can't give you guys a higher compliment than that :) I was very very impressed with Oli's recon reports - that IS the way to do it, and if I can come anywhere close to that then I'll be happy. Dr Oozy was great on the theory work, although I think that was just perhaps a little too long - couple of ideas on that below. The covops guys laid everything right on a plate for us and at no point did I ever feel in any danger - in fact the only damage I took was from a couple of the bombs that the Manticores dropped, and that only took me down to 20% shield. The gatebug, while annoying, might actually have actually helped us somewhat as it kept targets a lot more static (system-wise) than they might otherwise have been, plus local spiking up, then down, then up must have been pretty damn confusing for the targets. At some point during the night (relog I think) my overview got a bit weird - for example I couldn't see Pesets on the overview when he was out of fleet although everything seems set right even now. I couldn't see that damn Eagle at all on overview. Still 5 BS, 3 HAC, 4 COVOPS, 1 RECON, 1 BC, 2 AFs and a couple of frigates/indies isn't bad for what looked like a quiet Saturday night. Did nobody get any pods or do they not show on the killboard? I was pretty certain that the first kill (apoc) got podkilled too - I certainly got one rocket into his pod and it had damage when I locked it (shame I hadn't fitted rage rockets at that point).... Theory section I think could use a little buffing. Nothing major and I'm sure that given the time there's loads of stuff you'd like to do, but RL comes first. Couple of suggestions/ideas about things : 1) The spiral approach is a very difficult thing to explain in words. I already knew about it, having read how to do it elsewhere, but I had to read how to do it several times before I got it even half-way right. I'd suggest that you get a couple of your guys to do a dummy engagement with a long spiral approach and FRAPS/divx the whole thing. You can cut between attacker/defender views to highlight angular velocity/guns missing and then stick it up on a torrent/whatever as part of the course preparation. I think that the very best way to practice this is to find some low-level belt rats and warp in/out at different ranges. The ideal rats are destroyers as, once you can approach them without taking significant damage then you've got it right. I'm not sure that the time spent on this last night was all that useful for some people, although the zig-zag url posted in fleet helped. Better to do this as prep for the course rather than on the night? 2) Maybe in conjunction with 1) drop one of the "bio-breaks" and that would cut half an hour off the theory. It would also be helpful if you could maybe put something into the course prep about "bio-breaks" like "there will be bio-breaks every 90 minutes" as it'd help on the home/spouse aggro front ;) 3) Directional scanning was pretty good. I was going to make this suggestion last night but thought it'd be better here. Most people will have mice with multiple buttons and in general their driver software will allow you to assign actions to the buttons. Now (on MS mice anyway) one of the options is "Precision Booster" which basically allows you to move the mouse a LOT more accurately but a LOT slower too. This is ideal for 5 degree scans where you basically have to overlay your ship box on the object of interest. A word of warning though - I initially used the middle button to toggle this on/off but even with Eve voice turned off and nothing assigned to middle button in-game it didn't work well. I use one of the thumb buttons now to toggle it on/off. I recommend people give this a try; 4) I thought long and hard about the fitting on my ship and despite the fact that I love ACs I went arty to be on the safe side (low-sec lags badly and its been a while since I was in 0.0). It was strongly recommended to me on these forums that I go arty and I can see why. I could do 1300+ m/s last night and if I had been using ACs then the only entry on any killmail for me would be "Sensor Dampener I". Could you perhaps make it a little clearer in your fitting sections of the course prep that you may as well fit RRs as ACs because you'll be more useful !lol You do know that you don't charge anywhere near enough for this course don't you? 12 mill for 9 HOURS? I haven't had that much fun in Eve since, well since I was last in EC-P8R. I have 3 Rifters still in Nonni so I guess I'll be putting my name down as alumni for June 6. Now I know you're all busy but how about a Wolfpacks course at 1800 soon please? I was dishing out 400+ alpha from 3 guns so I figure with 7 I might actually get a killmail :D
Today's word is :

MORAL, adj. Conforming to a local and mutable standard of right. Having the quality of general expediency.

Excellent class! Thanks to everybody who contributed his time and effort to teach us in the theoretical and practical part. Dr Oozy, SkrewedUp, Tokatu, Caldak and of course the skirmishers and CovOp pilots who made it possible for us to shot at something. Special Kudos for putting up with the gate bug! I expected that the roam would be cut short because of it, but apparently I completely misjudged the dedication and blood thirst of AU. Two minor remarks: 1) I found some of the content in the theoretical part redundant to the reading material that we were provided with before the class but that is probably intended. 2) The only problem I had during the roam was to warp to somebody that was not in my watch list. Might be worth asking people to x-up in fleet (maybe even with the number of km to warp to) so the gang can right-click the name instead of going through the whole fleet roster. Thanks again, I am looking forward to flying with you again! Kas

Wonderful class overall, I'll definitely try to attend as an alumnus after the gate bug's been killed. One minor note is that the FC and one of the scouts came over vent a bit quiet and I had to adjust my vent settings for them during the romp. A five minute or so period where the people we really need to here could just talk while everyone adjusts their settings before the romp might be useful. Thanks for the class, I'll be back for wolfpacks.

Awsome class! Despite the dawm gate bug we still got kills. I agree with Kas here on the second remarkt. It was hard for me to sometimes warp to certain ppl during fast combat. Tried finding them in the fleet list, but it was kinda hard. So perhaps make sure that the names of the recon/tacklers are in everybody's watchlist before you start roaming 0.0. Then again if we wouldn't have lost so many members constantly because of this bug, I guess there would have been alot more fleet warping.

But compliments on the class, great theoratical setup, very clear.

Normally, I'd just read through these but there were some great comments and thought I'd follow up on a few. The bug was the really huge topic and if you want to come back and repeat you can at any time. The only limit we put on alumni is based on vent slots, if we run out alumni will get booted first.

The only thing I think could be expanded upon would be overview settings. I understand you could do a class on it by itself, but I still think a little more time could have been spent on that section.

Overview settings could be its own 2 hour seminar. We are tossing around some ideas about how to fill that a bit better and we are updating our wiki articles on overview settings right now too. Now that you can import/export overview settings there's the possibility for us to make a set of overview settings you could just import. The problem tends to be that they are very individual and getting more than say 2-3 agony members to even agree on them might be pushing it. ;)

Wiki is undergoing a complete reveiw and overhaul right now. Caldak does talk a bit fast BUT I've not met but 1 maybe 2 FC's that didn't when presented with such a rapid stream of targets. Last nights roam didn't seem to have many slow spots. The enrollment confirmation/processing was a bit slow on our part, we usually are a little quicker about it but things like the wallet api not working (and still not working) make it a much slower process.

3) Directional scanning was pretty good. I was going to make this suggestion last night but thought it'd be better here. Most people will have mice with multiple buttons and in general their driver software will allow you to assign actions to the buttons. Now (on MS mice anyway) one of the options is "Precision Booster" which basically allows you to move the mouse a LOT more accurately but a LOT slower too. I use one of the thumb buttons now to toggle it on/off. I recommend people give this a try;

I like this, gonna have to find that in my mouse setup. But normally, I'll not go below 15 degrees, trying to get stuff down to 5 for me is just too slow. (I'm not the fastest scanning person either.)

I didn't go on the roam but listened on vent. I'm not sure if I should admit that this was the first time Caldak had FC'd a class before. He's somewhat legendary inside Agony for his epic 50+ systems each way roams. Given the gate bug I also noticed he kept his tactics fairly simple. He did a great job, I'm not sure many people could have remained that calm and focus with that bug. And Alar and that Eagle....

One minor note is that the FC and one of the scouts came over vent a bit quiet and I had to adjust my vent settings for them during the romp. A five minute or so period where the people we really need to here could just talk while everyone adjusts their settings before the romp might be useful.

Thillery, did you do the vent adjustments mentioned in our articles? I personally set my gain at 0-2 instead of -7 and I find I seldom have to adjust people's volumes.

Two minor remarks:
1) I found some of the content in the theoretical part redundant to the reading material that we were provided with before the class but that is probably intended.
2) The only problem I had during the roam was to warp to somebody that was not in my watch list. Might be worth asking people to x-up in fleet (maybe even with the number of km to warp to) so the gang can right-click the name instead of going through the whole fleet roster.

Kas, yes it is a bit redundant and it is somewhat intentional. There's such a spread of people coming to the class with such widely varying amounts of eve knowledge there's always going to be some overlap. That's a good point about the watch list, sometimes the agony pilots come in and out of the fleet and because we tend to fly with each other regularly we don't really notice it or just adjust without thinking about it. But that's a great reminder for the FC's.
