Does anyone know of a reliable and cost-effective (NOT $7 per meg) Internet solution via Satalite that has an African footprint? I am currently working in Angola (west coast of Africa) and the Internet connectivity speed here is appaling (17-20 second lag) with dc's every 10 minutes. Ideally, the solutution should be portable in nature. :( Fass

no idea but I would suggest posting on main EVE Online forums about this too - i'm sure someone else is or has been in your situation and if you bump the post you'll get an answer

Maybe in Angola this is good solution but in Libya isn't.
I work now in Libiya and in company we have internet connection via Satelite - this is expensive (about 4.000 Dinars per month - ~ 3.000 USD for the teoreticly 512), but in practice this is slower (we make test on working only one computer) then my home conection via LTT (Libyan Telecom and Technology) for wich we pay 1% of this amount (speed from home: Posted Image - I was in 49- when local had 1500 people and I could play normaly).

But maybe in Angola this looks difrent I think you need ask somebody who had this type of conection in this country.

I am in Kenya and we are all on satellite. It is not ideal, as it is a lot slower than fiber optic. You may have to give up serious PVP until you are back in fiber optic range... Alternativly, take out ships that are not so dependent on a fast connection. Support ships for example. I don't have a good company for you to check out, sorry.

The company is looking at some options at the moment - most of the crew here are fed up with the current Internet access ($100 per month, and it only works half the time with massive lag). Also, there is no way of communicating with family here, calls cost around $2 per minute and having faster, reliable Internet access will allow for Skype etc. Thanks for the feedback guys.
