Hi folks, I'm Tokatu. Long time listener, first time caller... I discovered Agony on the web a few weeks ago. I was scouring the web wondering how to learn to pvp in this game and came across an excellent review someone posted about PVP-BASIC. Since then I've read everything I can find about/by Agony in this forum, on your wiki, or anywhere else on the web. Needless to say, I'm impressed. I realize you have a formal application process. I hope this isn't out of bounds, but I wanted to let you all know that I fully intend to submit my application as soon as I meet your requirement for PVP-BASIC. A bit of background about me. I'm 35, married for 12 years. I live in Los Angeles and work from home. I was in the US Navy for 4 years(Seabees Can Do). My wife and I have no children or plans to have children. What that all computes to is that I have a lot of time to play. I bring a maturity and dedication to my gaming. I've been gaming now for about 6 years. I tend to get involved in my guilds/clans. I often identify a need and create a job for myself by filling it. One of my really close friends asked me a month ago to describe what I would consider the perfect game. When I was done with the description, I had this nagging feeling I'd heard of a game just like that once. 10 seconds later I saw an ad for a free trial of EVE Online and I remembered. It was like fate. I've been playing just over a month now. I think that when the time comes I would make a great fit for Agony. Thanks for your time, and I look forward to seeing you all around.

We'd welcome an application as soon as you've completed the requirements. You've clearly read up on it and understand that the application process. It's important to make a good impression with your application, as I'm sure you've worked out ;) I look forward to seeing you on a course soon. Seabees - that's a construction group isn't it? Indeed the Seabees are the US Navy's construction force. I was an Engineering Aide. I did drafting, surveying and quality control testing. I spent time in both Guam and Spain. It seems like a million years ago :)

Hello, thanks for the interest. We have many ex and current military in our ranks, something about our structure attracts them. :D By all means, come on out and join us for PVP-Basic when you get a chance. If you like the way we fly then submit an app. 8)

Something about military people, we tend to clump up in general. I think it has something to do with knowing your teammates know how to fold their underwear in a perfect square.

Good Job finding us. A couple suggestions if you haven't done so already. 1. Join the ingame mailing list for classes, helps ya get a heads up for when classes open. 2. Join the Agony Unleashed University ingame channel, I know I pop in sometimes when on even when class is not running. 3. Download EveMon, EFT, and set up Sisi if you haven't. 4. Sisi is the test server, what is pretty cool about that especially for new players is that everything costs 100 isk. So it can be an interesting place to try out expensive fits and ships. 5. Bout all I got. Although Engineering V, Electronics V very key for fitting a ship. I'm sure everyone has an opinion on skill training planes... Hull Upgrades and Shield Management for more Structure, Armor, Shields is always nice... Your in Redondo Copter? I used to work there, lived in Hermosa at the time. That's like the only good little area of LA.

I lived in Hermosa for 12 years before buying my house in redondo. I bartended my way thru college working at The Pitcher House on PCH. You know the place? Met my wife there also. She's a Hermosa native.

Thanks for the tips, I hadn't heard of Sisi before.

I certainly welcome all skill planning suggestions. My current plan is very bohemian. I set my skill section to show me all available skills. About once a week I go to a station that sells all the books and stick anything that looks useful to combat in my head, then dump it in an EveMon plan. I've been doing the lower ranks of everything on the theory that 5% here and there on different things quick will bring me up faster than deep training any one skill. I do that for a few days, then I work on a learning skill for a few days. I've almost got my third learning skill to level 5.

Hull upgrades have sure come in handy for all sorts of uses. Although, the tech 2 variants of the hull upgrades are 4x as expensive as the ships I put them in 8)

Look into the advanced learning skills - you still get one attribute point per level, but level 1 is only an hour or so compared to a few days for level 5 on the basic learning skill - you only need level 4 on the basic to start the advanced skill. Only drawback is that they're a little expensive ( a few million each).

It's probably not the most scientific way to go about it, but what I did was add all 11 learning skills plan to V in EveMon. Then I just carefully moved each level of each skill around until I found what appears to be the shortest time.

Here's my current effective stats with implants:

Int 27.50
Cha 8.80
Per 20.90
Mem 19.80
Wil 14.30

And Here's the rest of my learning skill plan:
Skill plan for Tokatu

1. Analytical Mind V (1 day, 59 minutes, 24 seconds)
2. Logic V (11 days, 9 hours, 41 minutes, 41 seconds)
3. Eidetic Memory V (12 days, 16 hours, 6 minutes, 19 seconds)
4. Spatial Awareness V (4 days, 2 hours, 14 minutes, 57 seconds)
5. Iron Will V (4 days, 2 hours, 13 minutes, 42 seconds)
6. Empathy III (3 hours, 4 minutes, 11 seconds)
7. Empathy IV (17 hours, 22 minutes, 5 seconds)
8. Presence I (34 minutes, 5 seconds)
9. Presence II (2 hours, 31 minutes, 12 seconds)
10. Focus I (33 minutes, 57 seconds)
11. Focus II (2 hours, 31 minutes, 12 seconds)
12. Focus III (13 hours, 36 minutes, 24 seconds)
13. Clarity III (10 hours, 30 minutes, 6 seconds)
14. Presence III (13 hours, 18 minutes, 15 seconds)
15. Focus IV (3 days, 3 minutes, 35 seconds)
16. Clarity IV (2 days, 8 hours, 26 minutes, 49 seconds)
17. Presence IV (2 days, 22 hours, 33 minutes, 31 seconds)
18. Focus V (15 days, 23 hours, 10 minutes, 21 seconds)
19. Clarity V (12 days, 16 hours, 6 minutes, 19 seconds)
20. Empathy V (4 days, 2 hours, 14 minutes, 57 seconds)
21. Presence V (15 days, 1 hour, 29 minutes, 1 second)

I don't really intend to finish off this whole plan straight through (so boring just doing learning skills). I spend about 3 or 4 days a week working on it.

I'd leave the level Vs for now - both basic and advanced. You'll get a lot more benefit that way . It takes literally years to reap the benefits of Vs in learning skills.

basic level V's take 16-18 months to pay off advanced once take 3.5 years this is assuming you don't skip any training otherwise it takes longer so unless you plan on playing your character for close to 4 years there is no sense in training advanced V - that time is better invested into other more fun areas - but the basic V skills are worth it if you plan on playing you char for 1.5 years

eng./elec. and then WU and AWU are the 4 best friggen skills in this game. If you don't have all of those to 5 by the time you are about a year old I advise you get them asap too :) 2% grid on modules may not seem like much.. but its huuuuuuuuuge. :) (just my 2c for the week.)

I've been doing a lot of thinking about my game goals and skill plan the last couple of days. I would like to spend the majority of my training in the electronics category and specialize in target jamming. I have a high level of interest in EWAR, and jamming in particular looks like a fun way to go. Does this seem viable? I have other interests if there isn't enough demand for this, or if it's already too popular.

Get your core skills first. You can't do much if you can't manage your capacitor and fit your modules. Then some tanking (Caldari generally shield tank), then concentrate on a speciality.

Then you'll want to go with Caldari ships and the skills Electronic Warfare, Frequency Modulation, Long Distance Jamming, Long range Targetting, Signal Dispersion, Signal Analysis and Targetting.

Eventually you'll probably want to fly a Falcon/Scorpion/Rook, but for now the Griffin, Blackbird and maybe Kitsune would be a good short term goal.

There's lots of whining on the forums about the Falcon being overpowered. there hasn't been anything happening yet, but past experience shows whining leads to nerfing.
