To Whom It May Concern: I recently registered for the upcoming PVP-Basic class, and am trying to get a jump on what will be needed. One of the links in the wiki primer : http://www.agony-unl...dules_for_BASIC does not seem to allow access. Is that an oversight, or is that something that is posted elsewhere? Thanks for the update Spinward, I appreciate it. I do not know if I speak for the majority of incoming attendees, but I just want to make sure I have everything planned beforehand, and to not be needing for anything once the class starts. For many of us, this class will be the most serious endeavor we have taken so far in EvE, so we are (IMHO) understandably anxious/nervous to get our collective ducks in a row. For myself, and there may be others like me, I have already purchased the relevant frigates, and have fit them to what we have been able to read thus far. ex. 3 Merlins, each equipped (though incomplete) with identical: Afterburner Inertials Nano fibers Every caliber of rail gun that a frigate can fit ammo relevant to each gun both types of launchers that can be fit to a frigate missiles relevant to each launcher etc. but I am awaiting the recommended modules reading to round out my BYO's (Bring Your Own), ... and all the while trying to fit everything into a Badger Mk II, so we can make the Berta haul in one run. (31 jumps here) That said, some of us are also trying to max every spare m3 we have in said haulers even beyond our own considerations, thinking that we might as well have spare fittings/ammo for those that might be in need, so as to maximize learning, and minimize hassles/delays. (Gee, can you tell I am excited for this class?) So, again, my thanks in your response, but I would hope that Agony Unleashed would let the approved students expected to show, know what they are responsible for bringing with them beforehand, because some number of them will need to make arrangements the previous weekend for acquisition and transport of said required items. And thanks once again for your consideration, and to AU for holding the class. - Zhirez

Don't forget your EW. Points, webs, and a few of whatever mods your race prefers and you are able to use (for example ECM, damps, etc.). The class will go into some detail about using EW, and you'll be expected to fit some. Fit the best T1 gear you can afford to lose.

Most of your questions should get answered when the class materials are open to you. I'm glad to hear you're excited; I suspect it will be a great experience for you.

Gienah, Thanks for the reply, and yup, you are right. The last bit is the EWAR fittings, and those are the recommended fittings I am waiting to read about. What I want to avoid is bringing several of all types, as my cargo space is tight. - Zhirez

If you're flying Merlins then you can't use ECM effectively, you really need the bonus of the Griffin to make it worthwhile. So if you've got tackle gear (web, scram, disruptor), plus tracking disruptors and sensor damps (with both scripts for them) the you're going to be in good shape.

Rens isn't too far from Berta (8 Jumps each way), so you can probably pick up a few extra modules there if needed.

Thanks mates. Got access to recommended modules reading yesterday, and acquired everything I did not have already. I also messaged Dimensionline, and asked him about his recommendation as far as ships. I was going to bring Merlins, but also thought I might be able to contribute in a Griffin. He suggested bring both, so I am bringing two Merlins and a Griffin, with (what should be) more than enough fittings/ammo for any combination thereof. Now setting up logistics to get it all moved to Berta, etc. Much appreciated once again for all your help, - Zhirem

You're the one paying to take the course, so you should bring what you enjoy flying. Saying that, it's always nice when someone is willing to fly what the gang needs. When I took BASIC I brought Rifters and Griffins so that I could fly what the gang had least of. We seemed a bit light on EWAR so I flew the Griffin in the end. Which was a shame as we never found a fleet big enough to need jamming - but at least we had it, if we'd needed it. Anyway I enjoy flying jam, and I'm getting my fill of flying fast small ships now I've joined Agony. And some of them even survive...
