With 4 Scimitar pilots already signed up I do not think my meagre Logi IV Scimi is needed.
I will come with a ceptor then.

You can never have too many Logi's!!

For logis to make sense you have to find a sizable hostile gang first. IMHO you cannot have enough recons/skirmishers.
So I'll have an Ares and a Helios ready at station (and enough ISK to buy a Scimi or a Lachesis at Rens if too few show up).

Logistics 4 on a Scimitar in a gang isn't just viable, its very do-able and you WILL learn more flying that as an alumni but whatever suits you IME its not really viable on any other logistic ship (Guardians etc) but Scimis are OK at 4 with decent cap skills.

Good man - you'll learn a lot.

As for opportunities - well there are plenty around its just that we perhaps get set in our ways.

Join the RifterDrifter channel and Wensley's null-sec roams are an option - once he comes back from what I presume is studying (he's banned himself from playing any games for the next month). The gangs usually have logis and a variety of people/corps take part. Worth looking at as is his blog.

Sorry Azual - not a hijack, but if people know about Wasted Wednesdays (might be called something different now) then they can do stuff between Agony classes. I'm thinking alumni currently in non-pvp corps because maybe they feel they don't have the time or whatever for "PvP corps".
