But yes, your right, the class alone would have taken quite abit of time to kill it with only the frig dps avalible(not to mention probably running out of ammo)
It is a shame that he got that part of the story wrong tho, maybe he would have if only some drunken support pilot would have thought to fraps it...

The article also doesn't actually mention we killed the carrier... it just mentions the domi and "ZarnieWoop's loss" etc
I guess "killed" is never used but "taken down" and "succumbed" are pretty straightforward.

Once he entered triage we needed help. Even though this guy threw away ~ 135K HP by fitting a DCI instead of a DCII.
I plugged this carrier build into EFT and it can indefinitely tank 7432 DPS (once you turn off the remote reppers.) He could have indefinitely tanked 7869 DPS with a DCII. You'd need the class to average over 90 DPS to break this tank and even that assumes no class casualties.
I'm not saying it's not possible with a different group of 80 frigates fit for DPS (just look at Michellus Octavianus' damage output on that kill, he had to have DPS well over 200) but not with our group.

Remember that to run a triage cycle requires a quantity of stront every 5 mins. It is my understanding that he dropped out of triage towards the end so he might not have carried that many cycles worth.

yep i was reading some of the crap that was posted about the kill on the batt c web site by the guys that helped us with the kill there now claiming it was all them that did it.
Well, if I was them I'd be pissed at being completely excluded from the story. (Yes, I know, Internet Spaceships is srs bsnss.) They were top 6 damage-dealers and 8 of the top 10. Still our group accounted for over 60% of the total damage dealt (and of course, gets credit for trapping the carrier in the first place.) As I said when I wrote to try to get them to correct it, bringing that carrier down was undeniably a TEAM effort.
As for my choice of 'indefinitely,' I stand corrected. A 2004 player who dabbles in Triage is almost sure to have the skill trained to at least IV, though, which means at 450 m^3 per cycle, he could (and really, should) have 6 cycles (half an hour) worth. I guess me and Ecatherina will just have to agree to disagree on what constitutes a critical skill (any skill that gives me 33% or 50% extra god-mode time is pretty critical imo.)
Does strontium show up on ship scanner or cargo scanner or neither? If we KNEW that the guy was in his last Triage cycle then yeah, we definitely had the firepower to try to take him down on our own (and might have even stopped shooting to save ammo.)
Amazingly I notice that he didn't register a single kill even though he had plenty of Warrior II on board. I guess he was frantically trying to get his buddies to come and save him. Either that or the drone squad did a helluva job (they might have done too good a job, iirc I launched 3 Warrior II of my own during that engagement and they seemed to instapop.)

Mistaken assumption that it is godmode. We lost 5 ROL carriers in triage when all we had to do to save them was to warp from a gate 50AU away.... Evil Thug was not happy to say the least. Nync not either.

Anything in corp hangars do not show up. I can tell from your way of responding that you are more EFT warrior than practical user of a carrier, though, so if you don't mind, I think I will just smile a bit at your concept that anyone would bring more stront than for 6 cycles unless he knew he had to. 6 cycles for sure is way more than I bring on a normal run, having way too many other things I need to stuff into my carriers cargo hold (Kerzacks socks take up a lot of space) and the corp hangars.

In triage
* You can't be remote repped so you need good local tank (you will be primary)
* You can't use drones/fighters (so save 130 mil and don't carry fighters, have some drones though for when you are not in triage)
* You can't be jammed and have huge boost to locking speed (so leave the eccm and sensor boosters out)
* Your remote repair modules are more effective and have a shorter cycle. However this means you burn more cap per second.
* You can be neuted but can't be remote cap transferred.
So it isn't an I-Win button to make your carrier god mode, but as a force multiplier it can certainly turn a battle round.
The aim of a triage carrier is decent local tank, good number of remote reps and as much cap recharge as you can muster. Also you probably want to keep the cost down as much as possible
