This never happens to me, but I am at a loss for words. FC was his first Roam, Kills multiple, Us, safer than mining in Hisec, and Frigging Carrier DOWN. That's not school, That's Living Large!

Fragthis
Son of Panabas (BTSM)

My first BASIC roam 8)

At one point I was a little worried FC was going to warp us on top of a BS that may have had smarts, but the BS warped off first. But he may have had the situation covered; I'm not sure since we never made the warp. It was a sniping BS so *probably* didn't have bombs.

That's why I sent cr8r to the gate first as a test (no hard feelings cr8r) :P I was worried about smartbombs or I would have immediately warped up direct to the gate to get him. I also sent Ferret to the other gate in-system to try and trap him in, but he made good use of bookmarks and just managed to stay safe after Alta broke his bookmark. Would have been an easy kill if we had landed on him.

In two words: well done. This has been something that I will be bragging to friends about for quite awhile. Now to digest all of this info and try and teach my corpies as we attempt to shed the carebear attitude and get into FW. Class day, Saturday: I felt the pacing was very good. Material was presented well. There were the two portions of practice, spiraling and d-scanning, that might have been longer. For spiraling, maybe splitting people up into groups, or having maybe 5 Agony members spaced out in a pentagon so that people can go from one to the other to practice... not sure. In the end, I believe I got it well enough to employ in practice and get better on my own. Roam day, Sunday: such fun. Everyone (Agony) was brilliant in decisions and intel. I cannot begin to imagine what the Omen Navy Issue pilot or that one Punisher that warped right into our little blob 'o death thought about all of that. My only maybe regret here is that we really didn't loose that many ships. That really is the one thing to get over, isn't it... the fear of losing a ship? The domi did have me in structure, but yay for DCU's. I would **highly** recommend this course for anyone. Because on that first engagement, I did freeze. But not on the second, or the third, or any other after that. And if for no other reason, that made the time invested more than worth it. Thank you all. You were all true professionals. Oh yeah... TeaDaze for CSM ;) O, bother!

The best: it was good to practise and rly dooing PvP. The settings and hole context made it posibel for me to stay focused and not to agitated (neither nervouse nor to 'high'). :) We also manged to work together with a BS gang in order to get the domi+thanatos down. I have been confirmed that PvP is fun, when done properly (the right attitude). Best regards MonaLisa Overdrive PS I will also remember the last part, with picture arangement.

Well, that was fun. Thank you to the Agony folks for running things, and for all my fellow students for being great fleetmates.

The class on Saturday was good, if you were working from a new syllabus it wasn't terribly obvious. If you had gone any faster I think it might have been too fast, but then again the class was pretty long as it was, so maybe you have the balance right there.

I think what struck me most on the roam was the attention to little details, like the skirmishers trying to make sure that they had people warping to 0, 50 and 100 when chasing a target to a planet.

Thanks a lot, i learned lots of things. Mostly how to behave in a fleet. At First i was a little worried that i would not understand everthing, since i am not a native english speaker. But i guess i understood everything, only the align targets (when changed) where partly hard to get, bcause of the Zed-Issue ;). Thanks again, and i will try to get into an Wolfpack or as Alumni into an Basic as soon as i can.

Thanks again for the great work of Agony members. FC is solid. Skirmishers and Covops did great job!!! I was lucky to be involved in two great fights. The first one is the 78 Agony basic class frigates destroying 97 E-Uni frigate gang in the Mar Basic class. I thought that was classic. But then I was involved in killing the Thanatos carrier in the Apr Basic class. Incredible!!! I am planning to join the next Basic class again as Alumni. I am hoping for a even bigger fish to fry!!!

Genuine PvP virgin here. The class was good but the roam was awesome. Managed a Pod Kill after that epic Thanatos take down (not the Thanatos pod though - think it was the Domis). Anyhow - my first ever PvP kill - woot. [puts fluffy back in the drawer] I'm hooked.

Many thanks to all who made that experience possible, I have been playing the game for a few years and found many parts extremely helpful, even areas I thought I really knew. Scanning was great for me as well as the actual roam itself and how lucky were we to take a CARRIER on our roam !!??? Before the pvp basic I had done very limited low sec roaming and pvp in general, that course has given me the confidence, motivation and skills to build upon to do more now. I have already booked myself on the May pvp basic as an alumni, thanks again. ps it cemented my enthusiasm for ecm with successful jamming for the fleet, I was most contented to see an actual contribution to the effort.

I'll brag a bit, too. I took more initiative than usual on this roam. When the whole fleet was primarying a Myrm, I scooted over to tackle the carrier. Once he went into triage, I tackled the Domi until I got relief. I then went up and *mostly* soloed an Omen. I had brought my Vengance as heavy tackle and it worked well: nano'ed with dual prop it was quick but sturdy.

Great pvpers have a certain combat awareness and think for themselves as you did here. Good job. 8)

Carrier popping ftw :D All good fun except for the usual issue I get with hearing 0.0 system names. I noticed that some of the scouts were using the letter names rather than just the letters (Charlie Echo Foxtrot rather than CEF) and it was so much clearer. Maybe that's something you could consider doing for future classes (I suppose it's not so much of an issue within the corp where you're all used to each other's voices). btw first roam I've finished in a ship rather than a clone :)

The main problem here is time. As you've seen, a Basic class is already really long, and we've got a huge amount of information to cover! The practicals tend to take quite a lot longer than you think, and they can very easily run over so we can't always keep at it as much as you might like.

Thankfully, both of those exercises are things you can easily practice by yourself or with a friend, so if you feel you need a little more practice, just go out and do it!

Excellent class and roam. It's amazing how much material was covered in such a short time during the class section, but it didn't ever feel like it was rushed. Although I was already familiar with the majority of topics covered I still felt I learned a lot. The teaching style was really good, having different teachers for different sections and some answering questions in text chat seemed to keep things moving along nicely. Also the reading material is a great idea because you can assume that people will be broadly familiar with the subjects beforehand and refer back to it for those who might need explanation. Also the roam was excellent. The FC gave a great example of how to lead a bunch of players with varying experience levels. Always calm (even when saying for the 15th time "Thanatos is primary... Don't shoot anything except the Thanatos!"), kept things moving along, good awareness of the map and use of intel. Inspirational stuff! And the carrier... What an unexpected bonus. If nothing else I'll now be able to keep a good KB efficiency no matter how many ships I lose while roaming around trying to learn what I can fight and what I can't! I'll be back as an alumnus whenever I can, and looking forward to more courses too. So thanks to all involved in the course: organisers, teachers, FC, scouts, skirmishers. And an extra thanks to the scout who got me a safe route around a bubble camp after I left the fleet! EDIT: And thanks to cr8r for the dscanning prize of a wolfpacks credit... Hope to use it soon!

Fantastic class! Thanks to all the Agony instructors, you were all great. Professional, helpful, and enthusiastic. The lecture portion of the class was really good. It more or less covered what was written up in the reading materials, but it was nice to put it into practice. I learned a bunch of new tricks, too, like rolling safes and making better use of the D scanner. Before the class I just left it on 360 and max range and used it to see who was nearby, but never really used it to get a fix. The roam, though, was phenomenal. Olozim did an amazing job as FC, as did the cov ops and skirmishers. I got to be on the right side of some kill mails for the first time (including the carrier!) and have been bitten by the PVP bug. I just went out on my first solo roam in 0.0, and had a blast. The only thing I'd like to see added to basic is some advice for soloing, like which EWAR to prioritize or tips for fights where you're outnumbered. Thanks again to AU for organizing and running this class, I had a great time and learned a lot!

Excellent class! Olozim performed exceptionally as FC! I am really impressed with Olozim's awareness on the strategic and tactical situation, while remaining calm and turning student mistakes into learning opportunities for everyone! With all the roams I've been on, seems there is usually at least one person new (it's been me for a while) that invariably makes mistakes and is usually addressed in a negative manner. By contrast, mistakes where handled positively by emphasizing the right way to do things and clarifying why it was a mistake. One suggestion, I'm not sure exactly what was going on, but perhaps while in "Travel Mode" the fleet movement should be delegated to the XO. Seems like during this time, Olozim was trying to orchestrate and absorb intel while devising a plan. Even if some kind of course correction needs to be made while the intel is still being analyzed, a quick order to the XO would be all it takes to get the fleet to the new system. With regard to the theory, I felt the gunnery chance to hit and damage explanation somewhat redundant and lengthy, as it was well covered in the required reading. I really like the suggestion for videos of proper execution of a theory section. I'm thinking that some of the theory sections can briefly highlight key or important concepts covered in the wiki material, then move into a more substantial content pertinent Q & A session. This might let the theory section respond to the needs of the specific class, while driving input to content that needs refinement in the wiki. If the same concept is not understood well, or the same questions come up, then it that portion of the wiki should be revised to clarify it. Personally, I enjoyed the theory sections that covered concepts that are best learned by actually doing them. Would have liked to see some situational PVP "mock" encounters that demonstrate various PVP tactics used. Perhaps splitting the fleet, where a PVP tactic is demonstrated with half the fleet as the offensive and the other half as the defenders and describe how to properly handle the situation. I suspect PVP for many of us is stumbling in on a gate camp, or being hunted in a mining ship, industrial or ratting BS. Knowing how to detect, evade, or elude an offensive roam is a PVP skill, particularly while not in a combat ship. I know I've been "prey" several times. Knowing what to do in these situations so that its reflex, rather than deer in the headlights reaction, would be valuable. AU has substantial experience hunting and might be able to share some tactics that elusive prey have used. It was a great class! I eagerly anticipate a wolfpacks class!

I've been playing EvE for a couple of months, and have done numerous roams, so I knew a lot of the material presented. But there were several insights that were more than worth the cost of attendance. And the wealth of knowledge your members have, especially TeaDaze, was awe inspiring. Unfortunately IRL kept me from attending the roam, but I look forward to attending one in the near future. And I also look forward to wolfpack and advanced. Thanks for taking the time to train us!
