Hi, I've got 14m SP, all bar a few in PVP (except learning skills I suppose). I'm just coming back to EVE after a few months off due to real life (work sadly), and would like to blow things up again. I spent about 10 months in Syndicate and a month in true 0.0 when we took Sov in Fountain. I was with TGRADS/BRUCE for all my EVE career bar a few weeks with EVE UNI. I think I've played just under a year, from Mar07-Mar08. PVP is what I like about this game, that and having a good time with friendly people (hopefully while engaging in PVP). I'd like to try being in a more manageably sized group where I can make more of a difference. BRUCE was fun, but it was at about 700 members when I joined, and I believe quite unusual in that a lot of activity went on at the Alliance, rather than the Corporation level. Anyway your recruitment wiki talks about being able to skip the Basic PVP class with the right skill points and experience. But says to do this you need to talk/fly with AU a couple of times before being invited to submit an application on the forum. So I was wondering how I could go about getting in touch to do that, and where I ought to go, what I ought to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

o/ Simon!! Yes, the wiki is unfortunatly a little sketchy about exactly how/who to contact for such things. I'll copy/paste this into the corp forums and harrass people to contact you. Nice to see you getting back in game.

Hi Simon,

Arkole has indeed posted your request on the internal forums and those wheels are in motion.

In the meantime, I suggest you sign up for the next available Basic Class. It's not so much that we allow you to 'skip' Basic, if you meet the other requirements, but that we allow you to join before taking Basic. It's still a requirement that you complete the course before coming off probation. Being signed up to a Basic Course (even if you haven't completed it) will definitely improve your prospects of your application being accepted.

\o/ Arkole!

Nice to see a familiar face on my first foray back into EVE.

Thanks for your harassment on my behalf. All help is gratefully received. There might even be cookies! Or at least until I've trained matter transference IV I'll eat the cookies myself, while thinking grateful thoughts...

I think it's the guide to ranks within AU that says in order to get acceptance you either have to have taken the Basic PVP Course, or to have the relevant experience, and to have flown with AU at least twice. But the wiki isn't as specific as that. I'd guess things get handled on a case-by-case basis anyway.

Cheers,

Thanks. I was aware from reading your public information on internal ranks that you actually have to prove you have the knowledge to get the certificate, even if you don't take the actual course. Or at least that's how it reads to me.

It's not a problem, I've not played since April, so there's been Empyrean Age and Quantum Rise since I last flew, or fitted, a ship. Practise makes perfect and all that (or at least 'less bad'), and what's not to like about flying round with a load of frigates getting blown up...

I'm just being impatient. I needed to find a goal to give me the enthusiasm required to do all the logistics fun-and-games that are going to be my first task on re-entering EVE. So finding the right Corp to try and join was my first aim. Now I can buy myself a GTC and wander round the universe collecting my stuff, or selling/saving what's stuck in other people's outposts. [Thinks: I wonder if I can get a Scorpion out of hostile 0.0 and 30 jumps back to empire...]

Now I'll wander off round the forum to find when the next courses are with free slots.

The requirement to take basic isn't due to us assuming you can't PvP, more it is because Agony do some things differently and by having everyone take basic we are all talking the same language on the way Agony does fleet ops. Don't take it as a slight on your abilities :)

While it is a requirement, it is also a lot of fun. You won't regret doing the course and as Tea says, it helps with the common language and tactics.

OK, I'm now signed up for December 6th's course. 100 suicidal friggies should be good for a laugh... Have you come to any conclusions in the internal forums on what the recruitment process is? I've no problems with being asked to do the PVP basic first, but I was rather worried that it wouldn't be possible to get onto a course before the end of December (or worse), and a recruitment process that takes over a month seems a touch long to me... However I was fortunate that the Dec 6th course is triple the normal size, so I got a second chance to join the fun. Can you give me any info on what I should do next? Sorry if I seem a touch impatient, but I'm afraid it's because I am. 8) I spent a while before I re-subscribed wandering the forums to find the right Corp to join, and AU seemed to be the perfect fit. Anyway I look forward to flying with you next weekend, and I suppose all may become clearer then. Cheers,

You are able to put in a recruitment application up to one week before your scheduled class. It gives people a chance to look over the application and we get to see you fly in the class. Personally I'd recommend doing the class before the application as it might give you some hints (not just on tactics, but Agony's attitude and character). Edit: Bamar beat me to it - I shouldn't take phone calls from my boss while writing on the forums.

Down with bosses! And with work interfering with serious forum whoring... Well thanks both for the answer. I'll have a look at the application questions again and see what I can come up with. If I've got time this week I might fill it out, if I'm feeling inspired, I'll fill it in, if not I'll wait until after the class. Cheers,

An alt for what? I don't know of any task in Agony where an alt is absolutely required. They're handy sure, but certainly not compulsory.

Hi, I've taken a class with one of my mains, Penny Reynalt, my other two mains are in either Seppuku Warriors or Eve University. I am thinking of applying to join Agony Unleashed with the totally combat specced character who is in SW. Is there a way for that character to get credit for the classes Penny has taken or should he start from scratch with Basic. I'm happy to repeat the class if I need to but want to start planning for whatever is needed. Thanks and looking forward to WolfPacks, Penny

Penny, PVP-U classes are all about training the player behind the pod pilot, not your character. We do have rules about alts in other player corporations, though, so make sure you read those rules, please (they're on the wiki). You'll also find pretty clear-cut instructions on the application procedure. Make sure you read carefully. Feel free to apply, we're constantly reviewing applications.

Hi there. I'm thinking of applying to join Agony and I'd like to clarify a couple of things:

In the Joining Agony Empire page on the wiki, section 2 of the application process towards the end links five other pages to read before applying. The last two of these, Agony Empire FAQ and Advancement and Rank Qualifications, require the reader to be in the group ensign. You don't get into that group until after joining... Could they be made public (or removed from the applicants' required reading if they shouldn't be)?

Secondly... I have a (very new) second account with another PvP character. They're currently in an empire corp which gets wardecced at times and necessarily does PvP, so it is probably not an acceptable home for an alt. I would be happy to move them to a NPC corp if I joined Agony. But I wonder whether I could bring them in with me instead, should I join?

So I have been holding onto my application until after I completed PVP-BASIC and noticed what I think was a recent addition to the wiki about joining. It states, "Recruitment for US timezone players is currently closed, however if you are primarily active during European or Australian times then please keep reading!" So my question is, if I typically start playing between 04:00 and 05:00 EVE time should I submit an application or send it to the shredder? If its the shredder, any idea how long recruitment will be closed? Either way thanks and PVP-BASIC was all that I hoped it would be. I'll see you for WolfPacks. Ulin

There is no set time as we absorbe and train our newest recruits but I'd guess about 6 weeks or so.

Be patient; we're worth the wait.

This is just to clarify that recruitment is still open for those residents of Americas who play primarily in Australian and European time zones. So for example if you live in North or South America and play EVE during afternoon or very late at night (either around 20:00 EVE time or around downtime which is at 10:00 +/- a few hours) then you are welcome to apply. Your place of residence does not matter - only the time that you primarily play in.

Just for clarification, if I play primarily between 2300-0600(EVE) would I be welcome to apply? Aether mentioned players who are on around 2000(EVE) are still welcome. I ask because of the announcement thread saying that players in the 0000-0700(EVE) were no longer allowed to apply http://www.agony-unl...opic.php?126131 .

My playtime kinda falls into both categories, just wondering if I'd be wasting my time or not.
