For those who wanted to know updates about my dad and his cancer treatment. As some of you know, my dad was diagnosed with cancer back in June and was undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy for 4 and a half weeks. At the last update they had up'ed his radiotherapy treatment to the maximum dosage, which was mondays to fridays, and his chemotherpay was on thursdays.. well a few weeks ago due to the treatment he was receiving his throat got very sore, and so he couldn't eat which led him to losing weight fast. They admitted him to hospital where he had an operation to have a tube placed into his stomach, so he could have his food blended into what looked like some baby food of which he could inject through the tube directly into his stomach via a big syringe. Well.... The 'spots' on his lungs which they found turned out to be nothing other then just emphazema (sp?) so the cancer hadn't spread as everyone had feared. Last week he went back to the hospital as his first set of treatment had finished for more scans/tests etc. His main doctor who had been dealing with my dad from the start was at a meeting so my dad had to see another doctor, who showed him the new scans and such, and mentioned that he couldn't confirm anything just yet, but it seemed as though my dad was responding to the treatment. I had a call from my mother 2 days ago to say that his main doctor has confirmed that my dad is definatly responding to the treatment he was receiving and that everything seems to be getting better. They have discharged him from the hospital and is attending one closer to home, and will prolly keep up the treatment untill he's in remission. He is now putting the weight back on, and is undergoing speach therapy to get his voice back to nearly normal. It might not get to full but it will get at least 75-90% of it back. Looks like he's gonna be the first one in the family to beat cancer. Thanks for all your support guys, i probably couldn't have done this without you.

Excellent news! I lost a friend to cancer just a couple weeks ago, so I'm really not much of a fan of cancer. Not quite the same as when it's happening to one of your parents, but for that I'm glad to hear he's doing well.

Great news

Anne Bonney, a notorious pirate in her own right, told her husband, Calico Jack Bonney, as he was captured by pirate hunters,
“if you'd have fought like a man you needn't hang like a dog”.

Nice to hear! Hope he can get up an pew pew soon... errr ya... something like that...

Feline, wasn't aware that your dad had been going through treatment for cancer but I'm genuinely delighted that he's coming on so well. Really hope that he makes a full recovery asap. On a side note regarding my wife who was also diagnosed with cervical cancer earlier in the year, she too has been fully cleared without the need for chemo or radiotherapy as she had a hysterectomy and all the cancer was succesfully removed. Speaking for myself once you hear that someone has cancer I automatically thought the worst so like I said it's great news to hear that someone has came through it. Best wishes to you and your dad.
