I'll post a more exhaustive AAR later, but long story short, great class, a number of good engagements, came close on getting a couple capital kills, and capped it off by semi-suiciding into a doomsday. Great job everyone, was a good way of finishing things before going on break from classes. Instructors - SkrewedUp and Bamar FC - Bamar Also, the Advanced material is still evolving and being edited, so feedback on the instruction would be very appreciated.

Outstanding class. Well thought out discussion on strategy and tactics, philosophy behind fits and FC'ing a mixed fleet. And of course, the roam was a blast. We were so awesome that they had to doomsday us to stop our tirade of destruction. I can't wait for the next class. Thanks to Skrewed and Bamar for an outstanding class and thanks to the Agony pilots who worked so hard to find us fun things to blow up.

As usual, awesome class... The lecture maybe could use a little less time introducing concepts that are already covered in the wiki. Definitely liked the later "what would you do" quizzes. Not sure what else to say... Good luck on the Tournament!

Hey, As always...... an excelent class! I always enjoy the theory parts as much as the practicals..... though, having said that, this was a very successfull practical. I would like to see more material on the wiki as I am one of those players that likes to read everything, though I guess thats up to us as Agony pilots to provide that material ;) Sadly, I think some of the basic rules need to be re-established before the roam. The amount of people posting in local was amazing despite having been told not to and also..... the amount of people NOT orbiting when on a gate or when at the station with all those carriers....... and no surprise they were the first to complain when they got insta popped! It was my first time flying with you Bamar and I thoroughly enjoyed it and am patting myself on the back right now for having made it into the corp a while back so that I can fly with you again. ..... and as always, a special thanks to my fellow Agony pilots that were assisting..... I think I counted 12 of you at one point!!! Hopefully soon, after working on my skirmishing skills a little more, I can start to assist too. Barrak

Just a quick note to let you guys know that the course was fantastic. It's certainly the most detailed in terms of theory of the courses I've done so far and the roam was, as always, professional and enjoyable. Thanks again for a great experience. Looking forward to the sniper HAC course ;)

I learned a few new things in basic in wolfpacks, having had some PVP experience, but the Advanced class blew me away. Tons of excellent info (I only wish more of it was in the wiki as it's hard to absorb in such a quick time) and some homework for me - it seems it's time to learn all the advanced ship names, their preferred tank and usual damage type :) The roam was extremely impressive, too - the FCing, scouting and tackling was just amazing. AU is a great organization and once the recruitment opens again, I'll definitely be very tempted :) Just one more thing.. who shot that Cerb wreck?! ;)

Thanks for the class, very informative. I'm starting to get a sense of the various tactical considerations of PvP combat. My limited understanding of all the ship types was holding me back though. I'll have to take ADV again as an alum after I've spent some time going over the ship list.

class and roam were excellent, wish we'd snipped off a capital as we came close. For me getting some insight into tactical and strategic threat assesment was the theory highlight and I think the scenarios Bamar was throwing out could be extended.

Solid class and roam, but you already knew that! I was struck by the comments we head in local and how closely they paralleled talks I had with old friends when I was at university. Some of the guys from high school got jobs right after school but I went to university. They made fun of me going to university, calling me an egghead and telling me I was wasting money learning things everyone knew. Drop class, get a job and makes some cash they told me. 20 years later, my income is a lot higher and my job a lot more interesting than theirs. In local, they were telling us we were wasting cash to learn how to set destinations. I wonder how they will be feeling in a few months when they are on our killboard! More seriously, this class felt like the step from high school to university. The switch from teaching us facts to teaching us how to think was apparent and effective. To that end, I would strongly recommend more of the “now, why did I do that?” questions that were asked. I imagine it is hard enough being FC without having to throw in discussions on why you are doing things, but it is the teaching the class is very interested in. I have noticed this on all my roams that the FC seems to be more interested in keeping us alive than teaching. Given that we all have three ships back at station, safety is not as important as the teaching. Pausing a minute at a safe spot and explaining a bit more would be nice. The EFT article in the wiki is simply incomplete. This is the only failure in the course. The second half is still in point form and there is even a writer’s note of what to expand. Bamar covered a lot of ground and clearly knows his stuff in depth. I have two suggestions to make you an even stronger teacher. The first is how you speak. You say “you know,” a great deal. At one point I started laughing, because it sounded like you were answering a question with it. “What is a Tristan?” “A Tristan is, you know,…” The guy wouldn’t ask the question if he knew, it made me smile. Anyway, it is probably subconscious but is something to consider. The other is when teaching about fitting and so forth. Don’t say it is dry, even if you think it is. First, we signed up for the class, so we are probably fairly into it. Second, if you tell us your presentation is boring, we will start thinking it is. We then stop having fun and paying for the next course. What you say about something will influence what we think, so never say the course is dry or anything negative. The wiki on bookmarks, while not in the course material for Advanced, needs a look. I was reviewing it before class and had to take notes to understand it. Once I did that, it was easy. Break out the labeling section and do a legend instead of an essay format. It makes it much easier to understand what the symbolic system is. Something like the following, apart from the main article. |> tactical <| |--safe spot--| {pos} Also, the article has a nice set of 10 sections at the beginning. It would not hurt to move those into the main text. This is a teaching tool, so point form is cool.

The EFT article in the wiki is simply incomplete. This is the only failure in the course. The second half is still in point form and there is even a writer’s note of what to expand.

There was a new EFT article drafted - it will need to get reviewed first, and then it will either replace the incomplete article or be combined with it.

The class was, as usual, outstanding (oops, a paradoxon?). Skrewed and Bamar kept the theoretical part very lively with discussions of questions... the interaction with the students is what really makes the hard stuff more digestible imho. The roam... well, second roam in this area, second DD... looks like we are a titan magnet somehow. On the other hand, how else do you stop 70 cruisers packed with EWAR? I guess for the next fleet we need a HIC with us and a "red phone" hotline to PL !lol !lol
