Great class. You all should feel special, its been a while since someone took out a titan to take on our frigate fleet. Let us know your thoughts, good and bad. Instructor: TeaDaze FC: Caldak You all can now attend our pvp-basic classes as alumni (if there's room). The next class in the series is Wolfpacks, which deals more with bookmarks, scanning & recon.

Please PM me the KIll mails i you can't get them posted. Very nice class, well done to you all. We had alot of targets and fun, just that break of boredom before the last engagement. Isk wise well infront, been Doomsdayed was my first too. A big thanks to the Agony support guys, you made most of this raom go well.

Anne Bonney, a notorious pirate in her own right, told her husband, Calico Jack Bonney, as he was captured by pirate hunters,
“if you'd have fought like a man you needn't hang like a dog”.

It was definitely a load of fun when we got out on the Roam. It is also a lot more incredible to see a Titan in person like that. The thing is just a monstrosity. Loads of fun and you guys were great. Interested in getting in on some of the more advanced classes.

PM'd you a killmail, tell me if you didn't get it, otherwise.... Thanks goes to everyone in agony for a well-executed and organized run. It's quite impressive how well all of you ran this fleet considering the numbers and members involved, but not unexpected considering your reputation. Yea I'll quit sucking up now !lol Special thanks to Caldak for the excellent FC job.

PVP Basic class ........ 12 Million isk Fitted T1 Rifter ............. 3 Million isk A titan killing almost 500 million isk of their own ships ..... Priceless Thanks to all Agony pilots for a great class and roam. Practical: Overall pretty solid class, personally I think the usefulness of the directional scanner is better demonstrated when the class goes through the "find the pilot exercise." The roam like always fun and had something unique this time the whole episode with the titan and the encounter with the goons. I also noticed that Caldak started calling its scouts by numbers, I am guessing is to try to reduce the leaks.

Great experience! Tea did an excellent job with the class material. Very informative and enlightening. I had an absolute blast on the roam! and of course got my first killmail. I am so stoked about the Titan! Unbelievable they would risk that against a bunch of frigs =) I look forward to other classes and jumping in as alumni!

The good:
* Caldak. Calm, assured, aggressive in all the right places. When he talked, all doubt just dropped away. My heart rate never went up particularly, even when the crap was hitting the fan. Told us exactly what to expect, and exactly when to expect it.
* TeaDaze. Great instructor! Didn't rush, paused frequently for questions, paused frequently for breaks, covered the material really well.
* The AGONY scouts. They did their jobs really well! Told us just what we were about to fall on and kill.
* Primary and secondary target calls. We didn't *always* get them, but we got them often enough to stay coordinated. Particularly in that first fight against the COW cruiser gang, new primaries came along each time the old one went down.
* AGONY organization. This could easily have turned into herding cats, but I was damned impressed by how organized each portion of the class and the roam was. Excellent, excellent work!
* I got pieces of at least 10 kills! :D

The bad:
* Changing the location of the class 8 days before the class. That was uncool, guys. I had to rush a bit to get my ships and JCs moved from Nonni to Teonusude.
* The Goonfleet battle. Things kind of came apart a bit. Caldak forgot that he was leading a class -- which was good, don't get me wrong, it showed he had confidence in us! But he did forget he was leading a class and he split us up, which I think was a mistake. He called squads 3 and 4 to support the tacklers, but since we weren't coordinated, we arrived in ones and twos and that got us torn up pretty good.
* I was the first or second to die in the Goonfleet battle and I didn't get any kills there. :(

The ugly:
* Getting doomsdayed. Hee! Great stuff, though. Those beasts need their own scary theme music.
* I forgot to warp out when I was targeted in the Goonfleet battle. Doh! My blood was up. Had I remembered, I might not have been killed so fast. :shy:

I'll be back as an alumni, and I'll be back for Wolfpacks! Great class!

Oh my !! What can I say... I've been in EVE off and on for 3 years, always pve and always feeling detached and or sticking around to train skills I never really used, last night both the class and the roam was the most fun i've ever had in EVE. The class was very professional and informative TeaDaze was easy to listen to and learn from. The roam was amazing, Caldak did a wonderful job and showed us what a real situation was, you hadto be on the ball and even though I was pod'd a little before we hit the titan Caldak did the right thing taking us in there to face things we normally wouldn't, no one is perfect, it was kinda nice to hear him sometimes say go through instead of jump jump jump meant the guy in charge was human too and as a FC he delt with the amount of information and making decisions in a very professional way. I went bed at 1:36 uk time after the titan event :) and woke up at 5:30 completely and totally buzzed! me thinks I will be sleeping after lunch. Thank you to Caldak and all the other members of Agony unleashed that made this possible and also to my fellow classmates. Now I just haveto find out how to join Agony Unleashed :)

Excellent class! Just having a titan and carriers on the same grid, all trying to kill a fleet of frigates more than made up for the 25 jumps with absolutely nothing to do. Then to cap it off with an attack on the goons was just the cherry on the icing on the cake. Teadaze did well explaining the basics, but it is a shame that I didn't see much opportunity to practice the skills. I didn't need the spiral manoeuvre at all as I was never first into the fight (must remember to fit for longer range next time!), and it might have been useful if the students were given a chance to find a target using the scanner, even a fake target. Otherwise, on the whole, well worth going to bed 8 hours after I should have! - D

I only accidentally learned that the class is actually meeting in Teon. I'm not sure, i might've overlooked that it was in Teon when i signed up for it, but i'm under impression that it was originally scheduled in Nonni and got changed afterwards. If latter was the case, it could use a little more warning, as i totally didn't expect that class location could change like that... Yea i know, check original post, but the original post is a huge wall of text and it's not easy to notice that something changed (especially if you don't expect the changes and therefore don't look for them). Maybe relocating classes to a different system could merit something more outstanding, like a new thread, and an evemail in AU_PVP_classes mailing list... (just don't create another sticky, regular threads are so rare in Enrollment forum that they actually stand out more).

That said, relocating certainly did make things more lively. I've actually managed to die, twice... of course that was 99% because i got too careless flying in these gangs over time, but i "blame" increased activity too :P Still, it sure beats idle marches across 100 systems with no targets to be found... It was the most fun class i've been on so far. I keep being amazed by the dedication of the Agony support fleet, taking time to scout us pods back home after the fight was very nice. The debriefing chat in the end was very nice too, don't think i've seen it done before, but i think it's a cool feature to keep if possible.

All in all, an epic class, looking forward to the Advanced on 25th :)

Spiral approach might not be as useful in a huge fleet like this, as you have little chance to be attacked in the first place, but it's very useful in smaller gangs. Directional scan, in my opinion, is a skill you can and should practice on your own; a lot of it depends on picking a good place to scan from (ideally, bookmarks specifically made for it) and your "aim".

Also, the class doesn't really last long enough for the practice part to make much difference, and if you're doing it wrong, instructor will have hard time correcting you because he basically doesn't see what exactly you're doing wrong, so it'd just be a crowd of people taking time to be on their own. You can always ask questions about that on forums, and are in better position to do it here too, because you can attach screenshots and/or diagrams to illustrate what youre asking about.

Great class. TeaDaze did an excellent job of covering course material, and addressing questions. For the roam, I've never been in a fleet, nor in null sec, but I've got to say that it was the funnest thing I've done so far in EVE. I'm sorry to hear that I missed out on the Titan since I had to leave the roam prematurely.

I think this class had been listed as TBA prior to July 4th for the location.
The advanced class on the 25th had been scheduled in Nonni, however, but is now scheduled for Teon.

Good class. I had no idea it was Tea's first time as instructor untill he mentioned it afterwards. The roam was good too especially when cow decided they needed a titan to kill a few frigs. I only wish I'd actually managed to see it. I'm looking forward to comming back for more. My only issue is do you run courses that start earlier? I'm in GMT time and didn't stay for the whole roam as it was rather late.

One month and 15 days into Eve. My second Basic class/roam - and can't wait for my third. On the first roam I was preoccupied with following basic fleet commands, the roam being my first time in 0.0, first time flying in a fleet, and my first pvp. This time I had EVE windowed and kept a ship list and map open on my second monitor so I could practice ship ID and have a better sense of where we were. Really got a lot out of doing that. Was also a lot more comfortable this time with how to arrange and manage the various fleet windows. Plan now is to practice navigating through 0.0 so on my third roam I'll be able to rejoin the fleet when the time comes. So, two points. Being able to join the class/roam again is invaluable for a new player like myself. Because of what I learned and experienced in the first class I got so much more out of the second and can now set more advanced goals for the third. The second point is I can't imagine designing and delivering a class/roam for such a large group of people with such varying skill and experience levels better than AU has done.

Thanks all for the excellent questions and hope to see you back as basic alumni and wolfpacks students :)

Was a most enjoyable class. Picked up many new experiences and tips. Hats off to the fc, he was a far cry from the "sacrifice yourselves to save me!" type of fc I am used to. I usually plob along at a slow pace and so was much quicker than what I amused to. Makes empire wars seem boring, perhaps it's time I found a low/0.0 corp to go to. The prior class itself was most usefull too. Speed is understandable hours on end is difficult for some especial those with short attention spans, and there was no feeling that we were just being rocketed along to get rid of us as soon as possible :P. Instructors were patentee with questions even ones that would be answered from the reading material :P Thank you to agnoy for doing the classes.

This was without a doubt the most fun i've had in EVE so far. I'm only about six months old, so still a newbie, but have been on quite a few fleet ops. They pale in comparison to this. First shoutouts go to the amazing scouts for finding targets and to the skirmishers for holding them down. Amazing job guys. Ripard Teg and Skrewed did a great job in organizing and explaining things. TeaDaze held a great lecture, very informative and well explained. I'm looking forward to the alliance tournament. Last but not least, Caldak; how in the blazes do you manage to keep all of that sorted in your head? That was just amazing FC'ing. Big thankyous for showing what a fleet of unafraid frigates can accomplish. Big thanks to Agony for taking the time to organize these classes. I will definitely come back for more. Oh, and that Titan was just incredible luck. I've got some of it on FRAPS and will post it if that's ok.

Very good instructions and excellent fleet command. Not as criticism but as a suggestion for improvement I would like to point out that the speed at which Tea talks can be a slight challenge for non-native speakers. Otherwise, both the material and its presentation were at the extremely high level of quality we have come to expect from Agony. As for the roam, getting to see a Titan in the wild and being doomsdayed was quite an experience. And seeing HICs succumb to humble frigates in next to no time does give you a new perspective on relative potential. Very instructive, and a great lot of fun. What really sets you guys is apart is the professionalism with which you obtain intel and make use of it in your tactics. Special thanks to Caldak for taking the time to explain the reasoning behind some of the maneuvers he made us go through. That gave us a glimpse at how complex the world of an fc is and how much we would have to learn before we could attempt to lead a group in good conscience. I realize the scheduled time is probably already a compromise between US and EU timezone requirements. I had to drop out around 2.30am our time, however, as that is about the limit of what my RL schedule lets me get away with. A course that starts at 1400 Eve time would probably keep some more Europeans around until the end of the roam, and it would perhaps still be late enough to permit some of your US timezone members to join after the instructions part. But even if that doesn't happen, I'll come again to join you. To sum this all up, it was great fun once again, and that is highly appreciated. Many thanks, and please keep up the good work!
