Greetings all, I was exploring joining eve university (awesome group of people very informative) when they advised me to wander over to Agony Unleashed saying this place may fit me rather well. Personally i'd never even heard of you but then again since I joined EVE i've spent 99% of my time in High sec doing mishes etc, the 1% well that came about early in my Eve journey two not so unique happenings, you know that time when you buy your first cruiser (a vexor), never been in low sec, no npc have ever killed you, so I went wandering and saw this flashing red target and before I could say "ohh whats that" My ship was a wreck and I was podded.. Eve may be a harsh taskmaster but atleast it rams the lessons home, my only other flirt with player versus player combat was before I knew anything about probes etc and had a belief that no one could enter your dead space encounter 285 days ago someone proved me wrong, I was in there in my Navy issue Raven picking up wreckage (mission was over just salvaging) when I see this flashing red target warping in and my warp engines get web scrambled. Now that was a painful experience 7 Navy issue cruise and a Navy Raven *chuckles* Since then i've spent most of my time doing mishes etc but I find myself very detached when it comes to Eve, the pve side of eve can be very boring so I will log in train a skill, setup a ship, tweak my cap stable ships and log out.. I know i'm missing alot of what makes Eve well erm eve. My main is Calranthe a gallente pilot with 8.8 sp, mainly a droner they are my favourites :). My alt Rho Legate, I make no apologies that I bought him off the forum, when I found out I could only have one char training at a time I didn't really want to start over so I picked up a 7.2 sp caldari pilot, he is now 17.3 so really he is mine now. Cal is heading towards piloting a Sin (I love the idea of setting up a sin cloaked at 160km then unleash sentries/drones) long term goal about 170 days of training to get him not only able to pilot but actually fly well. Rho well he is 4 days and a billion isk away from carrier but will probably take alot longer seen as i've diversified him towards stealth bombers (no funds for caldari carrier skill book etc) I plan on signing up for the next PVP basic class as I seem to have just missed the deadline for the 11th of July one. Today i've done alot of reading about agony unleashed and I think i'd fit in well, yes I have no PVP ability but I find myself aligned already with the basic ideals of the corp. Anyway just wanted to say HI and introduce myself, I look forward to getting to know you all. *bow

Welcome to the forum Pyros o/ That's quite a high end skillplan you have there. Which both blackops and carriers are very useful ships to have, it's worth noting that neither necessarily find their primary role in combat - yes both are combat capable, and are used for that purpose, but at least in the kind of small gang pvp agony specialises in it isn't really their primary role. It tends to be blackops are used more for bridging, and carriers for transport and logistics. They're also both incredibly expensive ships to lose, I expect you'd need quite a bit of isk to back up their use in PvP. That said, since you mentioned stealth bombers I'm guessing these aren't necessarily the ships you plan to fly all the time. The best way to pick up some PvP exposure (other than PvP BASIC of course!) is probably just to grab yourself a few t1 fitted t1 frigates, and just head into 0.0. You probably won't kill anything, but you'll pick up some valuable lessons in tactics and survival, and it will also help you get past the 'panic' stage and onto the stage where you actually start being able to react and counter what is happening. Anyway, that's enough from me. Hope to see you on BASIC some time!

o/ Azual I guess the whole drone/carrier thing is I love pet classes, in other games i'm the necro with a pet or a mage with a pet or a mad scientist with a pet :/ sort of just gravitate towards it. Good Advice :) i'm going to grab Rho put together 10 T1 basic frigates Merlin I think. And just go play with the pirates.

Its all good fun, Next time i'll go in something abit more substantial, maybe a raven or drake i'm working on, don't mind loosing the ship after all its a learning experience, more todo with in a little bigger ship I can expect to atleast last a couple of mins and see how they react. Lets see what happens.

hehe that reminds me of my newbie days ... got disenchanted with missions and started ratting in lowsec, somehow avoided attention of pirates when i ratted in frigate, so got myself a destroyer, started ratting it in, bam! flashy Vaga lands in belt with me ... almost insta-popped me while i was going
"ooo, what is this shiny thing here"

so then i'm thinking "mmk, still want to know what it is" got a frigate with two warp core stabs, landed in another belt, started waiting, guy lands with me within seconds so i started thinking how did he find me that fast ....and that is how i was introduced to the ship scanner lol

with probes i read on EVE forums multiple people complaining that they get probed out even without seeing probes on scan - so keep away from mission warp-in point and watch out ;)

If you like pet or support classes I'd say the equivelent in EVE would be EWAR. Specializing in those skills and the ships that give bonuses (griffin, blackbird, kitsune, falcon) might proove fun. Of course you can't really effectively solo in an ewar ship, but it's always nice to bring some along for the fight.

I think by "pet classes" he meant fantasy [MMO]RPG classes that have "pets" (i.e. summon animals to the fight or something) - and in Eve, drones are pretty much as close to "pets" as you can get. Well, or you can also carry a [miniature] slaver in cargohold, though some might call that "overroleplaying". I'm not sure what flying a Kitsune has to do with pet classes. Unless you're saying they're "fleet's pet foxes" :)

I was listing E-war ships... But I hear ya Drones are closer to pets... I was just relating it to a support class..
