Right lets hear the feed back. Class was good, bit lacking in targets but we covered alot of systems. Lots of wrecks been blown up. Please post Kill Mails when you check. Instructor: dimensionline FC: Caldak

Anne Bonney, a notorious pirate in her own right, told her husband, Calico Jack Bonney, as he was captured by pirate hunters,
“if you'd have fought like a man you needn't hang like a dog”.

Minor points - when the instructor goes over session change timers, it's worth noting that joining a fleet, leaving a fleet, or being assigned a role within a fleet also trigger session timers.

Another thing that i don't think was covered is, you generally don't want to web the target when it's not pointed, unless it's trying to head back to the gate - because if he's trying to warp out you're basically helping him. Though that's probably more appropriate in Basic feedback.

Other than that, was quite awesome. Yeah, could have more targets... but then, if we would have a lot of targets, i'd start to think you're actually paying them to come out when classes are in session :P

Great class. Learned quite a bit about the power of the Destroyer, and was quite surprised at how quickly we were able to dispatch the few battleships we were able to find. Enjoyed the roam immensely, even with the lack of targets, it was good chance to see a skilled FC at work, utilizing all available intel and resources to coordinate the fleet. Thanks again Caldak for the great roam, and Dimensionline for the instructional portion of the class, and to all the rest of the Agony guys/gals for their immense patience!

Good lesson, not much new stuff for me but i'm becoming a veteran already anyways :) For the lack of targets, agony is getting a name and lot of people stay docked if they see a agony member during a class. Mayb raise the price a bit and hire some rabbits to hunt?

Heh I got the day wrong Pesets, sorry I didn't come say hello, sounds like I could have caught the end of the roam for an hour or so. Hope you had fun, doesn't look like you had too many targets - that's always been my experience of Fridays, slow but usually funny as the "alcoholically-challenged" people logon after the pub/club. Don't be a stranger now ;)
Today's word is :

MORAL, adj. Conforming to a local and mutable standard of right. Having the quality of general expediency.

Amazing class, had lots of fun and I must say that I enjoyed it more than Basic. I guess targets could be more but we had our targets in any case and me personally realized how bad it is to be at the receiving end of an organized fleet. Adrenaline was flowing through the whole roam as we were hunting targets or when that big fleet warped etc. I said earlier that i enjoyed it more because I was more comfortable this time with voice comms and was able to follow with ease the commands. I think we moved pretty good as a fleet and maintained good formation throughout the practice part. I am still a new player so I must say that for me apart from enjoyable it was a great experience to fly with a fleet in 0.0 and helped me be more comfortable in cooperating and responding with others in a fleet. Dimension was great and so was Caldak as FC, I don't think I could expect more. Also the other fleet members were in a great mood and we had our laughs during those relaxing moments. I think the classes are an asset to the eve players. If you can offer them more often, as demand is high, it's the only think that I would ask. Thanks for your time and for the great training and experience you offered me.

Even if it existed (recorded lecture) it wouldn't be any useful. You have to live it to appreciate it and to really learn. I guess you should be patient till next class. I will certainly try to attend a future class as a alumni if allowed because I have read lots and lots of stuff but it's totally different when you have to apply theoretical knowledge under pressure, in split seconds and in combat with others...

Was a great roam even with a lack of targets, all Agony members were great, so thanks. Many wrecks had to die for our enjoyment, and I like the the new fleet system, but I think those of us students that brought ECM should be in a squad made up of just ECM, and the fc can just tell us to spead the love around in a battle. Can't wait for the next wolfpacks. and you euro timezone folk are great fun. thanks again.

Have to agree with many of the comments, great class! Even with the targets few and far between, we covered a huge amount of space and good work to all for locating the targets we did hit. This was the first time I had taken a class as an alumnus. I still learned some new stuff. I like the EWar squad composition. Reasoning for it is sound. Seemed to work well. Thanks again

That was me. I kept disconnecting. This time I found myself logging in while warping back to the gate I had disconnected at. I landed on the bubble, with a Thanatos there. "Huh." I thought, "I guess he must be friendly or something?"

I approached the gate, not noticing he had locked me. I saw a fighters pouring out. Suddenly I had half a dozen red flashing squares on my screen. 8km out.

I made it to the gate and out. No shields but full armor. Holy crap.

Great class. I especially enjoyed trying to get myself to a place where the fleet could warp to me when we were engaging that Eagle at the end. The lessons I learned were mostly about bookmarks and navigation. These were worth the price of admission.

Thank you Agony for a great Wolfpacks class. Picked up some useful tips like Punting and TAM. Good theory section and clearly explained / demonstrated by Dimensiononline. Second roam with Caldaak after last week's jump bugged BASIC class. Can really enjoy a good roam w/o losing half the fleet. Pity about lack of targets but being hot dropped by 30+ cap fleet was a great moment :) Would have been funny to see that Thanatos destroyed by 50 destroyers. LOL and for future classes. Get wrecks off the overview! ;)

The way squads were split up was interesting - each being self-sufficient to some extent. With the lack of targets it was hard for Caldak to put in into practice, but it seemed like squads 1, 2 and sometimes 3 were generally given specific objectives while the others just waited back with the fleet. It would be nice for the "active" squads to rotate so all the students get a chance to execute specific orders. Pity there were so few targets, but fun roam anyway, and great class. Thanks to Caldak and Dimensionline. I'll be back for ... what's the next class?

Nice class, too bad target were few. Only one negative point (too many good to name all of it). I do understand the importance of the Hydra principle and having group with everything in. But the way it was done(not the explanation) last night took way to much time (like 45 min?). Maybe have an instructor do it in background by sending Eve-mail during the theory ; or something else you could think of.

While I leaned quite a bit new stuff in this class. It also really helped make all the best practices learned in the basic class from a week ago sink in and get to be second nature. Like like the real military training the more you practice it the more you just do it without even thinking about it. The class was very good and very professional from both the Instructor Dimensionline and the FC Caldak. They did a great job with the class. I never knew about the instadock bookmarks before and the wise advice on making sure they are on true centerline. One does not see to many destroyers out there and it was fun to be able to finally fly one without tractors and salvagers. No one can be blamed for the lack of targets. I guess no one wanted to play at all. It was a blast seeing the cap drop in on the POS and the carrier on the gate. I actually waited at both locations for a couple of extra seconds just to take in the sights before running with my tail between my legs !lol Thought it was really funny that an 0.0 pilot would get so upset at the loss of a tech 1 battlecrusier when he was flying solo. It also surprised me on how fast word got around about our flight path while we were still 3-4 jumps out at best. Only thing I thought was missing from the class part was a little more overview on bookmark labeling. On the wiki you did spend a lot of time showing how best to label the bookmarks so that you can make sense of them later but in class we really did not get into the labeling. It would have been nice to stress it a little more and point everyone to the wiki for a standard scheme one can use. Once you get a ton of bookmarks if you do not have a good naming scheme you will spent more time looking for the right one then actual warp to it. The only other weak point of the roam and the class that I saw was that since we were running a hydra fleet with a lot of short/mid range ewar I can see a big issue with snipers like that outstanding eagle pilot at the end of the roam. With the class make up at the end we had no counter to the eagle. We could not kill him or were able to harass him enough back to really drive him off to seek out other targets. We where very much sitting ducks in a shooting gallery. It would be nice to maybe add a small section to the class on ways to better counter snipping. And some tips on fleet make up to be able to counter the snipping even if the wolfpack/hydra make up is not a good counter itself. That one eagle alone make you realize that it is very important to still have good mix of small support ships even in the wolfpack/hydra fleet. The class was a blast and can not wait to attend as a alumni here in the future. Lastly I want to thank the entire class/agony members/alumni since it is truly a team effort to pull something of this size! It was a complete blast!

It isn't as much of a problem with hydra fleet as it is with snipers in general (and Eagles in particular). He had good tacs for that particular gate, was aligned and on lookout for scanprobes, so there just wasn't much way for us to tackle it. It's not like he could tackle us either though, so you could always just jump through or warp away. The whole reason we were sitting there under fire was because we were hoping to get a warp-in.

Now, if we had an Arazu in fleet, we might've had a chance to tackle that Eagle. But then, toting around a 100+ mil specialist ship just for the off chance of running into another specialist ship isn't always worth it.

Problem with the Eagle was that we had no covert ops pilots left in gang and they have signed off shortly before. He was keeping aligned and did not let my inty approach him closer than 50-60km. It takes about 5 seconds to run a scan, and a few more seconds to gang-warp 30 bloodthirsty dessies to scan result. Even if we didn't manage to scramble him at his warp-in points we could have repeated this exercise 3-4 times, left 2-3 dessies at each of his TACs and hope he warp to 0m to any one of them. If anything at least it would not have discouraged him, by not giving him enough time to snipe.

The only two negatives for me were paucity of targets, sometimes it just works out like that and failing to get a decent multi target engagement. You cant really get a feel for what the hydra fleet can do and practice multiple ewar squads when you're just banging on one ship. The only thing I can suggest is maybe some research on where would make a good hunting ground in US timezome, but that could be hard. Once again many thanks to Agony especially the amazing cov-ops pilots. The final reason this was great was that nearly six years after picking up Eve for the first time I got my first battleship killmail! Epic caerbare fail.

I just realized that imageshack now allows to upload pretty large images... so here are some slides from the roam. Pretty much all of them are fleet warps though, as the few targets we did get went down too fast to take a decent screen :(

After you click the thumbnail, you can click the picture again to get the full size. I just cba to manually fix all of them :P

Gurista dessie wants to join the gang. Unfortunately he didn't pay for the class, and got popped few seconds later :P

Shiny black Heretics look totally badass. I wonder why we warped in sync though, as its warp speed is like 3x that of a regular dessie... i guess fleet warp is synced now.

Something nice looking about this one :)

Vertical! Well the screen was horizontal, but the camera angle got so screwed up that i decided to rotate the pic.

And a bunch of other fleet warps (jeez, did we get a lot of those :P)

I need to start taking some screens during these classes. I love the look of the large fleets in warp. Oh yeah, comments; For those about to take a class for the first time, if you are from a NRDS corp/alliance you may want to consider dropping into an NPC corp for the class. Last weeks PVP Basic class encountered lots of targets that were red to me, this weeks Wolfpack class not so much. Instructors and FC were great. Listening to the scouts and cov-ops call in reports was also educational. To hear what information was important, and how reports were delivered was great, and the slower pace due to lack of targets actually made it very easy to pay attention to all of the intel coming in. Finally, the tac info, specifically on grid tac's, are killer. I have already started making gate scanning bm's and on grid tacs in the common systems I travel through in 0.0. This s great stuff, and lets me feel more at home in a system. Bookmarks really seem to be a big part of what separates an OK pilot form a flexible agile and efficient pilot. Going over some tips and tricks on how to make BM's on the fly while patrolling systems would be great. Have you guys ever tried having a "what did I learn" session towards the end of the class? This can be a great way to review material, allowing people to possibly catch an important point they might have missed, or get clarification on something they might have forgotten to ask about. All in all thank you all for putting these together, and thanks to all my fellow class mates for a great time. I cant wait to come back for more.
