Ladies and gentle people,

Perhaps some of you have missed this, but Apocrypah will be a staged delivery. It is already possible to download the majority of the patch by firing up ye ol' client (and obviously clicking 'Yes' when a download is offered ). After that, a final and very small 'yeah, we're really done now' patch will be ready for download once the cluster comes back online at 16:00 GMT (yeah right :@ ) ....

So .... start your download now and save yourself grief and CCP a massive DoS-attack on their download-servers @16:00 GMT.

The version the auto-patcher takes the client to is 83913 - is 84244 the final final build?

I am at work on a blazing fast connection so am going to download both......

NB - the new auto-patcher downloads the patch file to:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CCP\EVE\Downloads\

So, if you let the download finish then copy it to a new location while it is installing, you don't need to download it multiple times for multiple PC's.

Not to put a downer on things, but it didn't work for me...I get a "client files don't match the files in the update" error. :-P It took bloody ages to download too... :-( There's no reason why it shouldn't work of course...well, apart from CCP's slightly shaky history of patches. Time for me to try the patch download client, although it's currently predicting 8.5 hours to download at a whopping 36 kB/sec. Long skill training ftw I guess.

I dunno, I used the patch download client and got 2.5 MB/s, finished within 20 minutes or so.

I needed two patches:

Yeah, the patch number for the second file doesn't look right, but following both of those got me patched up and working here. Download was pretty quick for me.

If you want to do a fresh install rather than patch ...

I originally got the trial through steam. I usually launch the game outside of steam. After patching with the link, I got an error running the game directly (files don't jive, reinstall client). I loaded the game through steam and it worked fine. I think I might just do a fresh install in a few days to make sure everything is cool.

Tried to download the patch while at work yesterday. Came home, and discovered that an error message about having a corrupted file. Have to download the whole thing again today. Dunno if the patch is platform-specific, but I am guessing Mac issues are not at the top of CCP's list right at the moment. Doubtless it will be working soon, but until then, I am effectively AFG. Will check when I am home for lunch to see if the patch took or not. - Zhirez

For Mac, I had to download the full installer in order to upgrade. No matter how many times I tried downloading the patch, it always failed to validate itself.

I did ... but because of the way the Mac splits settings from the application, even though I deleted my old Eve app from the applications folder and then copied in the new one, all my settings were retained.

Downloading the new installer, even though larger than the patch, was faster than downloading the patch for some reason.
