The "holiday" (i.e., excuse) for this roam was National Bad Poetry Day.  I decided to declare bad puns for targeted local spam, and many people on the provided numerous really clever (and the occasional groaner) puns - who knew Dybbuch was such a punmaster!!  Unfortunately, I still had log-chat-to-file turned off, so I didn't get to "record" most of them, but some of the ones I did catch, I've interspersed below.  Needless to say, the giggle factor was high in this roam, without doubt!!

Jallisca, who I have now declared is the Poet Laureate of New Eden (whether she likes it or not!) entertained us with another one of her terrific poems, too!

The greatest among us will perish,
Losing ships that they truly cherish,
Our heroes and those well renowned,
Will leave corpses just floating around.
Mangala Solaris and our Greygal too,
Have both died in the fray
Only to wake up in goo.
Perhaps here today
We might get away,
The fates may not force us to die
But reality outnumbers our chances in space,
and that's why we drink while we fly!
By: Jalisco Eisen Koraka

We found many ganks and only one "proper" fight as we traveled through Curse, Catch and Providence - I almost felt sorry for some of our targets, often damped to less than a kilometer - but not TOO sorry as all ships are disposable, right?

Zael Serine > Without interceptors, this roam is Pointless.

All told, we exploded at least 16 ships (think we're still missing a few killmails) worth about 3,376,000,000 iskies.

Dybbuch > Have you heard of that new band 1023MB. ?
Dybbuch > If you havent i wouldnt be surprised .. they havent had any gigs yet

We left Berta in a fleet of about 38, including 12 or 13 Maulusi and a Keres and headed into Curse, my old stomping grounds and the birthplace of my "Holiday" roams :)  Our first target was a Vagabond followed quickly by a Tengu who made the unfortunate mistake of hopping through a gate without scouting it first.  Gotta love it when you know that your roam has won the isk war 15 minutes after undocking; no matter what we lost over the next few hours, we would end up isk positive!

Something Easy > I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger. Then it hit me.

While we were killing a Dragoon, we got word that Caldak tackled a Vexor Navy Issue, which was quickly joined by a Drake and Falcon.  We covered the three systems as fast as we could to help him out, but alas, we were unable to arrive before Caldak died.  We did avenge his loss, however, by making a wreck of their Falcon.

Dybbuch > Why can't you tell puns to kleptomaniacs ..  .. because they take everything, literally.

We took a quick bio break before heading into Catch, where we caught a Caracal on our way towards 9KOE, which the map indicated was quite busy.  As it turns out, 9KOE wasn't busy, but that didn't stop us from prematurely ending the life of this Typhoon.

While we came across a number of targets in Catch, they were just a bit more slippery than we were, and managed to evade our eager guns.

Zael Serine > Archeaologist: a person whose career lies in ruins.

Despite it being pretty close to downtime, we decided to explore Providence at a relatively leisurely pace, which paid off nicely when our fabulous skirmishers and probers caught us this shiny Raven Navy Issue  worth over a billion iskies :)  While the loot fairy could have been just a bit nicer, this was definitely the best kill of the roam!

We took a break during downtime, then went out again, traveling in reverse the same path we'd already traveled.  I hoped we had stirred up enough trouble prior to downtime that the locals would have formed up some response to hunt us down and give us what we were really looking for:  A Good Fight™, a big furball of a brawl, a heart-thumping hands-shaking explosive experience to end roam with.  We were happy with the kills we made, but we were hunting for a fight.

Bam Stroker > Nothing succeeds like a parrot without a beak.

We headed back through Providence, catching a Caracal then punishing a Manticore who had the audacity to try and bomb us; then we divested the ever-rich NC. of one of their pilot's Cynabal.  All nice kills, but not the fight we were looking for.

Back through Catch we went, which was actually much quieter than expected but that didn't stop our skirmishers from hunting down and catching this xxPIZZAxx Stabber, the pilot of which gave us the best tears of the roam, bitching in local about our damps :)

Zael Serine > When you get a bladder infection, urine trouble.

We'd pretty much given up finding a good fight as we headed back through Curse, when tackle was called on a Slicer.  We hopped through the gate into VOL-MI and proceeded to slice through the Slicer and his Ares buddy, when a Talos landed.  Then another one.  And some Nagas.  And some more... and more... and YES!!  We found the fight we were looking for! Now, my decision whether or not to take a fight is really simple and comes down to one little thing:  "Can we kill one of them?"  If so, I take the fight.  I thought for sure we'd kill this Slicer, and possibly one other before we all died, so I gleefully started calling primaries and asking what we had tackled, trying my best to not giggle too much.  We spread our damps far and wide to at least stretch out the fun and make this fight last as long as we could. Unfortunately, the Slicer somehow got away from us, but we proceeded to trip up this Talos and just barely eeked out the melting of this Talos as the last few of us found ourselves in pods.  Grinning and giggling all the way to a safespot, we gave the good Red Alliance guys many GFs and thanks for the fight in local as we headed out of the system in search of newbie ships, with just four survivors and the rest of us in pods.

As we cheerily reformed our fleet of pods, readying to head out of system, local was spiked by a big Darkspawn. gang who engaged the Red Alliance gang and finished off some (if not all?) of them, including this Naga and this Naga which we had softened up before we withdrew.

Dybbuch > An American  walking down the street in Germany passes a man peeing in the bushes and disgustedly exclaims, "Gross!". He replies with a wink, "Danke Schon!"

Turns out the Red Alliance gang was apparently heading to their titan bridge in XX9 to drop into (rumour has it) Scalding Pass where (rumour has it) a lot of sov fighting is going on right now.  Darkspawn. was (rumour has it) chasing them down, and our little giggle-filled fight caused enough of a delay that Darkspawn was able to catch up and engage them, resulting in some scheduling headaches for the CTA they were heading to (rumour has it).   Sorry if we inadvertently caused you to miss a timer or big fight or something else, RA, but many thanks for giving us the perfect ending to a very fun roam!

So our fleet of pods headed out of system, grabbed us some newbie ships, and despite an attempted bubble camp in Doril, we all made it back to Berta where we called it a night.

Tay Finis > we can't come out of null still dressed, people will start to be too careful otherwise ;)

I want to send out special thanks to Jeremiah Cole, Veerus Weyland, and Anni Bonney for their fantastic skirmishing, tackling, recon, probing and punting.  Also special thanks goes out to Yuzuru Otonashi who "sponsored" all the J word fines for the entire roam  and a shout-out to nGR RDNx of the Eve Down Under Radio show (broadcast live every Friday at 10:30 Eve time at http://www.netgameradio.com - it's a great show!) for not only joining the roam today, but keeping us all chatting for hours afterwards! (By the way, RDNX also runs a website for the Australian Eve community at http://www.eveonline-au.com).

And, of course, as always, my endless thanks to my Agony family for once again supporting my roams, tolerating with never-ending good humor my um, erm, colorful FCing style, and just being the best Eve family anyone could ever fly with, ever.

I am, once again, very disappointed in Provi. I don't know why I'm still surprised but I am. I really should know better.

Someone called pete or similar was following us and he was spamming their intel channel saying "dock up" - he got it wrong on one occasion and spammed local   which is why nobody came to play/get ganked.

Nice spot of the anomalies from Caldak led to some fun in Shintaht where a woefully fit navy raven was despatched.

Russians fighting Russians later.

Was a fun roam though - comms went to fuck a lot of the time but people shut up quick enough(ish).

Would do again :)

So much fun for MANY hours. Greygal fleets are the best.

There were so many amazing people in this fleet that it will go down in history.

Australians forever. Except the time thing.

I loved being on the Basics roam as an alumni but this bad poetry roam took the cake for me.
I'm definitely going to be there for the Cinderella roam, and I'll be in the Wolfpacks
student lineup. Any chance I can get to fly with Agony Air, I'm taking it.

Also, big shout out to Jalisco for her poetry during the roam. <3 u space nana

GG, thanks for the roam, the plug for the radio show, and running this roam in the AUTZ.

As someone who is passionate about EVE-Online in this part of the world, your contribution in organising public roams, and everyone else who came along outside your natural TZ, is very much appreciated.

One of the highlights for me was Jalisco's poetry... you cannot get much more civilised comms than during breaks in the proceeding, have someone read EVE Poetry!

Thanks everyone who was there, was heaps of fun, and hope we didn't bore the crap out of too many, at the after-roam, drunken comms chat :/.

Thanks, RD.

PS. Small plug for the EVE Down Under event in Sydney, AU, 29 Nov - 1 Dec.... :(www.evedownder.com)... CCP Fozzie, Chribba, and BAM Stroker are confirmed... we trust you will be too.

This was awesome. Big thanks go to everyone involved, this was a surprisingly civilised fleet ;)

I had to go afk after a while and that's probably the reason I survived the whole thing, as I missed the Red Alliance scrap that took place later.

After a cynabal undocked behind me in 9UY when I wanted to get to hisec and the CVA lapdogs revoking my docking rights after I docked up again I decided I should wait for the next morning and make a run for it then. Worked like a charm.

A well-deserved shoutout to Jeremiah Cole for professional recon and to Caldak (I think?) for suggesting we check out Shintaht, which led us to that Navy Raven. And of course thanks to GG for her infinite patience for us spaceship nerds.

10/10, would fly again.

I'll see you guys at the Cinderella roam.

Wait, what? No, I'm not an attraction, RD. You know that - you've seen me.

The roam was awesome indeed, thanks to GG, the scouts and our poetry mistress! :D

I am still getting back to that last fight, I think that was my best fleet battle to date.

Kinda proud of myself that I managed to shake of a Dramiel with combined ECM drones and a resolution damp. Just to notice we had only 5 ships left on grid, following the "ok, get out" order.

Also, this will be the last time I put a salvager in the highs on those kind of fleets... Didn't manage to salvage T2/3 wrecks in time anyways and those "someone is salvaging!" calls on TS made me feel bad :P

You are a legend good sir... I have 500 applauding EVE nerds, as you space high-five CCP Soundwave at Fanfest, to back me up :)

...but don't let me high jack this threat.... was a great roam GG... although still recon the poems were the best bit... (just sayin) :P
