I'm happy to report a pretty awesome class roam.  Not quite epic because it was under 8 hours and we got no cap kills, but a damn good time nonetheless.  We traveled over 230 systems, which is pretty impressive.  We had an outstanding showing of students, alumni, and Agony support and a very well-disciplined fleet.  Here are the highlights.

RvB Ganked Brawl, MHC
RvB's gang was winding down for the night and had just been pipebombed, but they formed up to fight us as Mangala had promised earlier in the week.  RvB brought about 40 light missile kiting Talwars, which was a hard counter against our 60 frigs.  Clearly we weren't going to win the fight, but it was a great chance to start the night off with a big brawl and to do so just a couple of hops from Stacmon so we could reship quickly afterwards.  We decided to go free-fire rather than call primaries since targets would be dying so fast.  We had planned to get the drop on them using a bubble, but they know us well and outflanked us a bit so we didn't get to start the fight at zero.  We killed maybe 20 of their Talwars before we lost most of our fleet and RvB held the field.  They complemented our use of Ewar, so at least we had that going for us!  Thanks as always to RvB and Mangala.  Partial battle report: http://rvbganked.co...._related/11948/

Brave Newbies Brawl, TXW
After reshipping in Stacmon, we headed for Vestouve, where Brave Newbie's are currently deployed to be near the war zone.  They weren't active in space, but had about 70 in system and asked us to give them 10 minutes to form up.  We obliged and after about 20 minutes fought them in TXW.  They brought ~50 light missile kiting Talwars (again, Bullwinkle?) but this time we got them at zero in a bubble, plus our fleet was now battle-hardened against Talwars and we aquitted ourselves nicely, again with a weapons-free approach.  We killed about 30 of them before they disengaged and we held the field.  Feels good!  Thanks to BNI, who are always up for a fight.  Partial battle report: http://bravecollecti...3/201307070100/

Misc TXW kills
After the BNI brawl we putzed around TXW, repairing damage in station, getting our pods into noob ships, and looting the field.  During this time we killed a few random bombers, who apparently learned the hard way that a frig fleet can lock and kill a bomber very quickly.  One unluckly bomber pilot also lost his 2.3 bil ISK pod to us http://www.agony-unl...l&kll_id=110853 .  Today I noticed that he is no longer in his alliance, so I'm guessing that he was removed since this was not his first terrible loss recently http://www.rotekapel...il&kll_id=87787 .  Eve is real; your actions affect others in the single-shard universe.

The War Zone: Cloud Ring/Fountain border B-DB/J5A
After the fun in TXW and a reship, we headed out to the war zone, where Goons & allies are fighting TEST & allies.  We entered the warzone through Cloud Ring and sent scouts into B-DB, which had ~400 in local.  CFC kindly formed up an AF gang to fight us, but they got spooked into J5A by a 50-man Black Legion Talos gang.  We bided our time, hoping for a 3-way, and eventually saw our opportunity.  BL and CFC engaged each other in J5A on the B-DB gate, so we jumped in, planning to gank everything we could before dying in a fire.  However, before we broke cloak, our scouts on the other side reported a handful of ships back on the B-DB side, so we crashed gate, went through, and killed 4 of them before the rest escaped http://www.agony-unl...related/110922/ .  BL and CFC disengaged from each other, leaving us with the option of welping into one of them or moving on.  Having taken almost no losses in the fight, we decided not to welp just yet and continue into Fountain looking for another gang to fight.  We didn't find a proper fight in Fountain, but did get a few ganks on the way out.

Cyno Derp and Escape, 4C-B
On our way back to Syndicate we passed through 4C-B, a major staging system for alliances near the war zone.  There were about 20 Black Legion in local unwilling to fight our blob, er...fleet, but then a cyno went up on a station and I asked fleet to warp to it for a free cyno kill.  Turns out this was not my smartest move, because while we were in warp local spiked by 50...their Talos fleet from B-DB had just come into 4C-B through the cyno and put a bubble up!  I hurredly asked everyone to get safe, either by docking in station if inside the bubble or warping off if at the edge of the bubble.  Most of the fleet got safe in stations, and Greygal led those still in space out of system, but now those of us docked up were camped in by a bored BL with no intention of letting us out or giving us a fun fight.  So we logged off the fleet for 20 minutes, which was apparently not enough to bore BL into leaving system but was enough to get them to drop their guard just a bit.  We did a mass log-on and undock and all but one of us got out safely before BL could react and bubble up the stations again.  For the poor soul who did get caught I gave a short "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" speech as he awoke in a clone back in Stacmon.

Headed home via Syndicate
We wound up the night in Syndicate, getting a blingy Proteus gank on the way home http://www.agony-unl...l&kll_id=110954 as well as his 1 Bil ISK capsule http://www.agony-unl...l&kll_id=110959 .  The Proteus had a cyno fit so we kept range, waiting for a hot drop that never came.  We also got a blingy Tengu gank in 6-C http://www.agony-unl...l&kll_id=110955 as well as his 1/2 Bil ISK pod http://www.agony-unl...l&kll_id=110993 .
At this point, after 6 hours of roaming yours truly was burnt on FCing and Caldak took over, getting us a couple of Talos ganks.  We finally called it a night after 7 hours.  One of our students actually passed out at his keyboard from fatigue/alcohol and had to convo Greygal to catch up to us.

Thanks to everyone who came.  Looking forward to seeing new Alumni on future roams!

Rox, that was a fantastic roam - lots of kills and good times. It takes true skill and patience to meld a bunch of misfits into a fighting force but that's what you and Greygal did. Many thanks to all the folks at Agony for a great time.
Fly safe.

Yes that WAS great fun despite the lack of Caps to shoot at. The extraction was damn near flawless and great fun to listen to for those of us camped in Balegut.  We had great FC's in both you and Caldak who if I remember split the fleet for a bit and met up again for a Talos kill. I will most certainly be returning for more roams as Alum.

Unfortunately I couldn't make that class, but my scepticism about how enjoyable a "pvp lesson" could actually be is burnt completely away after reading the AAR.  I will definitely attend the next class! :D   Just as a heads up for the future, BL is currently based in 4C-B7X and always have a good number of pilots online there.

Seeing as we live in 3KNK, which is 8 gates from 4C-, we've noticed :P
