Agony classes happen on vent. And its pretty much a requirment you be on vent. (All instruction is done there)

Thread updated, access granted. Qurg and buddy GoneKrazy, I have not seen payment on Agony Bursar. Have you sent it elsewhere? Dread Pirate Roberts (love the name ), all the teaching is done on Vent. Without Vent, you'll see a bunch of ships in space and not have _any_ of the class content. Your corp members do not need to have a mic, but they do need to install Vent so they can hear the class and follow along. Please contact an Agony Director or our CEO Rells to set up a corp account for classes. Desalus, of course you can fly with this class. RL comes first, always. If you pay for a class and you can't make it, or you can't stay on until completion, just come on the next class.

It looks like I was not allowed into the June the 16th PVP-BASIC course, as no AGONY was, at least it looks that way. A shame, I'm not sure if I'll make time for a PVP-BASIC class or a WOLFPACK class if this keeps up, I won't have time before my Ensign period dies :sad: (

Sorry Bloodbird, there must have been some confusion - AGONY pilots aren't usually listed among class attendees unless they're attending the class for the first time. It's assumed that they'll be helping to run the class, therefore they don't count towards the enrolment limit.

Now that Yorick and Scoie are starting to teach BASIC and they don't need so much supervision from Dez and Rells, there should be a Wolfpacks Real Soon Now ™. If classes aren't running, Ensigns aren't penalized for being unable to attend Wolfpacks.

Ah, I see. We have not had any issues with crashes when using Vent, either in Agony or with students, so far. Which leads me to believe the issue is more likely with your member's setup than with Vent proper.

If those crashes happen when opening the Setup screen (do they?), then they have to do with the mixer portion of the sound driver. To verify, hold "Ctrl" and then click "Setup". You'll get a warning that the mixer portion of Setup will be turned off. If Vent does not crash when holding "Ctrl" and going into "Setup", you know it's the mixer portion of the sound driver causing the issue.

Either way, most Vent crashes can be attributed to sound driver issues. Updating the drivers should be top priority. There's a good FAQ on the Vent site about what to do to resolve issues.

We're discussing Niftier Ways To Teach Classes right now, which won't happen for this one. However, one important point that can be applied to this class came out of it: Please take the time to read the class material in its entirety before the class. One bit in particular slows the entire class down if you skim it. Inside the "Setting up your EvE client for PvP" article is a discussion on how to set up your overview. Read it, and ready a "PVP" and a "PVP Travel" overview profile before class. If you don't, we'll have to spend an extra 20 minutes on overview settings, which is 20 minutes we could've been hunting in 0.0. Also, we'll point fingers at you when you're not looking and giggle at you behind your back. Oh, and update your clone, and jumpclone into something without implants. If you don't have a jumpclone, Agony members will be happy to assist you in procuring one. Thanks!

Yorick, sort of having to disagree with you and yet agree to a point. I have had a very nasty session w. Vent when I was playing at an internet café - their booking system for getting refreshments was interferring, it seems, making Vent and Eve a near-to-impossible combination. I remember it distinctly, because I was out with Agony and I was very, very annoyed at Vent crashing the entire machine again and again, leaving me 2-5 jumps behind the group and trying to catch up.

Yeah, that may be due to some setup problems - I suspect the booking program interferring, though - but darn, it was annoying. The crashes would happen at random with no warning. If DPR has similar issues, he may want to look into conflicts with other programs running. Vent and Eve at the same time can be a hard to handle combination.

Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place. I see no "Setting up your EvE client for PvP" anywhere in that Basics Forum.

There should be a section in the bottom left of the page titled 'PvP University' with a dropdown box below it. Select 'PVP-BASIC (5 Items)' from the list to take you to the PvP Basic material. Or, follow this link to go straight there (assuming you have access to the materials. If you don't have access, it will just dump you on the homepage.)

No jump clone. How do I get one? From what I understand, I have not a standing(?) to get one.

If you do not have any implants you do not need to worry about this. If you do have implants (and you don't want to loose them), make sure you train up the skill infomorph psychology to at least level 1, then ask in AU_PVP_UNIVERSITY for someone to help you. You do not need any standings (but you will need a frigate/shuttle, and I believe 100,000 ISK to pay for the Jump Clone itself)
