Had a terrific class today, ya'll were so on the ball! I don't think I have EVER had a class that NOBODY broke gate cloak the very first time! Was impressive, almost scary impressive! :)

Was a bit embarrassed to realize that it's been so long since I used Eve Voice I had completely forgotten how to use it :) Thanks to those who knew how to find fleet voice chat :) Fingers crossed there are no teamspeak crashes during the roam! Must have been a host-wide issue, I've heard from six others since that their TS servers crashed at nearly the same time.

We love feedback - good, bad, or indifferent!! Please share with us your opinions on the class, the material, and especially, the roam :)

Really looking forward to flying with ya'll later today - here's to many glorious explosions!!

GG

Was a good fun roam, with a real variety of fights. We had small ganks, medium fights, big messy disasters and total furrball whelps. All told, we killed around 35-40 ships worth around 1.9 to 2.2 billion in ships, and (thanks to that furrball whelp!) lost about 900 million in ships.

We started off exploding two flashies in Mifrata, an Exequror and Stabber Fleet Issue, gotta love flashies on a gate!

Then off to RMOC, where we managed to catch a stabber and Hurricane of the very slippery Flying Dangerous guys, who had a nice mixed cruiser fleet roaming around but managed to evade us.

Next was K-QWHE, where we tangled with Appetite 4 Destruction, taking down a Stabber Fleet Issue and then eventually one of their Hounds.

Back through RMOC, taking down a Eris and Stabber Fleet Issue.

Then things got interesting.

We came across a logi-supported mixed cruiser Phobia. gang, quite heavy but the odds were high it would be a good fight. We knew it would be close, but that did not stop us from engaging them. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why the fight ended up as messy as it did, we really should have killed more of them then we did, but fights are messy and if something can go wrong, it will. In this case, for sure, they killed us faster than we could kill them, leaving us without enough DPS to power through their logistics and a total furrball situation.

Think we killed their Incursus and nothing else, that I am aware of :) I think we may be missing some killmails, could have sworn we killed a few of them before it all went beyond redemption....

We disengaged, and ended up with the fleet split up and nearly a dozen of us camped in the local station. I set up a rolling safe at a deep safe spot, while Rox helped talk others out of the stations as the Phobia. gang moved between the stations, camping one then the other.

Eventually Rox ordered me to get what I could out of the system to safety, while he remained to spring the remnants of the fleet. I moved about 25 of us forward, heading back to Berta where 7 or 8 of the fleet had woken up. Coms got somewhat confusing here, as Rox was trying to get people safely away from the station camp while I was moving the fleet several systems away. When I was about 4 or 5 systems away, Rox reported the Phobia. gang finally left local, and had me go ahead and wait where we were at so they could catch up with us.

(This may have happened either before or after the next event listed below, I kind of have forgotten the order of things here) Turns out the Phobia. gang had actually decided to chase after us! They came into local and landed on the gate I had us sitting at a TAC at, so as they landed I warped us to a TAC at the other gate. They followed, so I warped us away again as they were landing. I guess they realized I wasn't going to play with them (if I thought we could kill ONE of them, I'd have taken it... but alas... no way we could kill even one, sigh... ) They moved on forward of us, and we waited for Rox and the remnants to catch up with us.

I had the main fleet waiting at a TAC off a gate in CL-85V when Dzu reported that a small Pangu Coalition gang on the other side of the gate. A single Stiletto entered the system, and started powering out to us. Obvious bait is obvious, obvious trap is obvious, so OF COURSE, I go for it :) I said screw it, primary the stiletto. I figured we'd kill the stiletto and then I'd warp the fleet away before his backup could land on us.

Well, I was wrong, his backup was able to warp up to us ... one at a time... so we killed them... one at a time :) Stiletto, Maller, Tornado and finally a cyno-fit Rapier all died. Was nice :) A good fight even if it did take a bit longer to kill them than it should have (well, 7 of us were in newbie ships!) (The ibis is friendly, not sure why he's showing hostile here). Good fight, thanks for bringing it, Pangu!

Meanwhile, Rox reported they were now just in the system behind us, being harrassed by someone, I don't remember. He had us get on the gate, and then had us spike local which chased off those harassers. The fleet was now back together, and we headed back to Hemin (killing a lone OUCH rifteralong the way) where we took a quick break. After a quick break, we headed back up to Berta to let those in newbie ships reship, and regroup with those who'd taken the pod express home earlier.

On the way there, Caldak caught a flashie Late Night Alliance Drake in Mifrata, and held it just long enough for us to arrive, While Caldak did lose his ship, we revenged his lost ship on the Drake and a unaffiliated Exequoror.

We finally got the fleet all back together in Berta, where our 19 rookie ships reshipped, and off we went again. Recon was reporting Curse to be very quiet, so we headed to Providence, where we'd been hearing of numerous small gangs for the last two hours. Of course, they'd all moved on or logged off or docked up before we arrived, but we did find manage to catch a Rupture and Tornado in G-5EN2.

And then we found a fight in KBP7-G against Sev3rance and Yulai Federation ... A a big, glorious furrball of a fight... Total whelp :) We had a Harbinger deep into structure when their reps arrived, but alas, we we didn't even get that one kill. Total whelp :) As most of us woke up in Berta, Maze9 guided the handful remaining to safety, while the rest of us giggled ourselves into new ships. MMmmmm ya, a really fun furrball of a fight!

We went back out for a bit, floating around Curse, toying with a few small gangs, picking up a Myrmidon kill in Hemin. Then we spent too much time toying with Appetite 4 Destruction, we did kill a Vexor and Algos in K-QWHE but lost more than we should have to stealth bombers.

Our ever-patient FC Rox Ghengis needed to call it a night, as did a good portion of the fleet. We led people back to Berta as needed, and Caldak offered to lead the remaining hard-core pilots in some laid-back light and easy bubble camping in Doril.

We set up a bunch of bubbles on the Sendaya gate in Doril, and sat around chit-chatting and relaxing. The funny thing is we didn't really catch much with the bubbles (think we got a rookie ship and a rifter but can't find the killmails), but our ever-resourceful skirmisher ToranBrades caught us a Cynabal and then shortly after, a Vagabond elsewhere in the system! These were both really good fights (ok, they were ganks!) with both of the pilots almost managing to escape more than once. It was a great demonstration of how the adage of "you can never have too much tackle" is so true. Fortunately, we did kill them both.

We ended the night with a quick Wolf kill, took down our bubbles, and said a good night to everyone who joined us today.

I am so sorry, I screwed up the days and missed the lecture yesterday. Hopefully I'll still be welcome in another class. No need for a credit, consider it a donation for my being a doofus

Greygal did a great job in my opinion. My char is 5 or 6 years old with a 2 year vacation. I had pvp in the past and couldn't remember anything hence the class and it brought back lots of memories from my low sec days. The basic roam last night was also great even though I had to bail when fleet got back to Berta... great job by FCs and recons. Looking forward to future classes and roams :)

I updated the original post of this thread with a bit of a report on today's roam! I think we're missing some killmails, so check your combat logs and post them on our killboard if you have any that are missing. I may have some stuff out of order, my memory is a bit fuzzy right now as I should have gone to bed hours ago lol! :) Thanks again to everyone who joined us today - really enjoyed flying with you! This was a terrific class, I can't wait to fly with you all again soon!

Really enjoyed the class and the roam. Thanks to the FCs for an enjoyable, and especially the skirmishers for staying afterward to talk with some of us. Your advice helped me avoid multiple traps on my way back to Hemin today to grab some stuff - even though I eventually died to a gate bubble :P

Hugely enjoyed both days - beaucoups thank-you's, Agony.

I especially appreciate the content, and the way in which you've structured it so comprehensively, both before and during class. Though the reading material may have been more than some were used to, in my opinion it was well worth the effort. I would not necessarily encourage moving large chunks of it to video; IMHO, reading is faster except when it really helps to see what a particular technique looks like in-game. E.g., the spiralling demo is a perfect video - the diagrams are one thing, but you need to see what it looks like from inside a ship.

Looking forward to more classes and roams. Thanks again GG, Rox, and company.

hi GG and Rox, I really enjoyed the class and the roam during the weekend, the fleet was well organized and disciplined. It was a very educative experience to fly with you. I learned a *lot* not just about fleet movements but situational awareness, tactics and communication (each recon report were an extra study opportunity to me for example). What I liked the most is senior people were very friendly and helpful, something that you don't always expect from a 'pro'. can't wait to join the next roam.

Great class and roam. Thank you for doing this. Greygals' ability to cheerfully suffer noob mistakes and to patiently answer all questions greatly exceeded expectations.

Thanks to all the agony members who contributed their time in running this course. The course materials and course presentation were excellent. I learnt how to behave and fly in a pvp fleet and would be comfortable visiting null-sec again.
Spoiler
I am looking forward joining future public roams.

Thank you to all the members of Agony who helped facilitate this class. In addition to some excellent review material, I learned quite a bit both in the lecture and on the roam. It's so refreshing to be able to be able to join up for some PvP with players whom I have never encountered before and who maintain disciplined comms. I've never seen anything like that in other online games, and it makes the soldier in me smile. Thank you to Oku Fury for the video. You got some great footage, especially of the big whelping we received. I wasn't able to save my ship there, but I did make it out in my pod. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and I look forward to future opportunities to fly with Agony both in classes and on public roams.

Thanks to Agony and the FCs. The roam was fun but the theory was fantastic. Being new to pvp a lot of content was provided to us in the pre-reading but the additional context and information provided during the class was great. Application of that knowledge was also well tested with the pop quizzes and it shows Agony's professionalism with how much information and learning material they provided during the class. For a 4 month old eve player the information is priceless and I can't wait to learn more in the skirmishing class Great job to all!

It was indeed an excellent experience, and a particularly good one for the wide-eyed pvp newb. Our instructors had just the right blend of cheerfulness and seriousness, and even in the worst furball I never lost confidence in them. The two-day split gave me a chance to digest the classroom material and I found I was better prepared mentally to go into null sec the following day. I very much look forward to attending higher level classes and roams open to alumni.
