... and I've seen some total lunacy when I used to jump. However this is just lunacy on wheels. The normal turbulence between the towers makes this a totally stupid thing to do and you can see as the first jumper flies through how he has to fight not to get flipped over into the building. Utterly utterly insane. Scandinavians and sunlight is a dangerous combination :D

lol wow ... crazy wing suit people. That's a nice one. Jeb Corliss is a bad ass with that stuff as well. When things go well: ... and not so well:

Wingsuits never really existed when I base jumped. There was a home-made thing that a Norwegian guy lent me a long time ago on Kjerag exit 6 and that saved my life at the cost of a couple of broken legs. Last one I ever did. Flying into what's effectively an unknown windtunnel (between the towers) is just plain stupid. Kudos for getting away with it but its dumb - you can see the buddy jumper flares over the top as the risk to him is worse due to his buddy's turbulence. Mad bastards :)

Heh got me looking back now. Jumped this one (Lauterbrunnen/Stechelberg Ultimate Exit) - this is an excellent video of how damn scary it is. I did it in summer and its absolutely gorgeous there in midsummer. This is the "High Nose" exit, same area : Edit - these videos aren't anything to do with me, in my day you needed some mad bastard to manually video the jump which meant going off backwards :)

Dude, it is all damn scary to me, but I find the actual dropping look way scarier then the wing suit flying, simply because my deeper instincts associate it more with falling (and the inevitable splash on something hard at the bottom). When it comes to heights, I am a complete wuss.

Its much easier with wingsuits now. #1 thought with base jump as you jump is track. #2 thought is track and #3 thought is track faster :D By that I mean you have to track away from the edge of whatever you jump from as fast as you can without losing stability otherwise (as happened to my buddy in the mid-90s) you go right into the object when you hit an unexpected gust of wind and its game over. Some of the base jumps (Kjerag is a classic for this) have a vertical drop then a scree slope which you have to track over before falling the last 200m vertically. Wind goes the wrong way at the wrong time and you haven't tracked then you are in trouble which is what happened to me. Only thing that saved me was the trousers the Norwegian guy lent me - almost recovered the track, hit the edge of the scree slope, flipped over and pulled the handle. Don't remember anything after that except feeling scared. As far as being a wuss at heights, I bet you're not. I bet you'd jump from an aircraft at 2000m much more readily than off a 200m cliff ;) To paraphrase Terry Pratchett, its not heights that bother me, its depths :D

I find that disturbing which is kind of odd. I got no problems (had no problems anyway) jumping off stuff like that but that was with a main and reserve :D Hanging off stuff like that makes me shudder - not sure why because images of people climbing structures doesn't bother me. Strange.

Sweet vids, those guys just hanging off shit looks stupid beyond compare though. At least the wing suit guy has a plan and is clearly skilled in what he's doing. I need to go skydiving :D
