Have been part of Agony for 9 days now.

I have managed to lose 2 Incursus, 4 Atrons, 4 Thorax and 1 pod.

I have been able to personally dispatch 1 cyno, 1 noob ship and have the final blow on a Raven.

At each encounter I have managed to reduce the gaping whole that is my knowledge level.

Interaction with the corp members, Attending PVP classes, going on class and corp roams, waiting at a bubble, having the opportunity of giving recon info, travelling through Nullsec, 6 hops out from Hemin in a pod and then a noob ship etc... has allowed me to be less nervous about the new environment I'm in.

I know that this has helped me, because I was a nervous wreak after the first 2 days. Didn't know my ups from my downs. Toran, Deran, GG, DP, Joe, Billy, Yamir, Eomar Quest and Jysella to name a few have been great in removing this cloud of ignorance that I sit within. It's the little bits of information they provide, in a situation or during a lull in activity that has been really appreciated in regards to my development.

The generousity and the comradeship that the guys in Agony have shown makes me feel that I have made the right choice in wanting to join Agony. I know I have a steep climb ahead of me, but feel that I'm not alone and am well supported for the journey.

I like the Atron very much. I feel it is a good fit, for the type of pilot I am right now. Looking forward to fitting out more and seeing how the Ares fits me, once I have the skills trained.

I do not feel that the I am fitting into the Incursus the way I would like to. The micro managing required to fly it is a bit beyond me, at this stage.. Not going to give up... Still need to lose 3 more.

I felt that I did not use the Thorax to the best of it's abilities, when I flew them. I don't know if it was my lack of knowing how to fly them, the situation I found my self in with them or both.

Will continue to add to this thread as the days, weeks, months and hopefully years pass with myself as a part of Agony.

Please feel free to add comments to this thread, as I hope my perspective and those of others my help to grow the number of PVP lovers, with me as one of them.

Unusual to find anyone who's just joined Agony still posting on the public side of the forums - they're normally drowning in info from the private side :D One bit of advice for you (and your buddy who was camping the RMOC drag bubble with you last week) - don't go warping around your tacs unnecessarily, you never know who might be watching ;) Edit - I've just been reminded that I did the same as you when I joined Agony re tacs. /smug mode off :P

It was suggested that I post this in Public to help those, who might be thinking about joining Agony, with some insight into what is going on in a new recruits mind and what they are experiencing. The same post can also be found on the other side, should you wish to abound us with your bountiful knowledge. :P That's good advice, on the use of Tac's. Thanks. AkJon... Thanks for that link...will be studying it closely. Loteaus

Day ten was yet another day, where I learnt something new. This is good as not learning something would have been a waste of a day. Being in Nullsec... you can't waste any time in bringing yourself up to speed, (IMO...Disclaimer). Having said that, I took the opportunity of hopping into my +4 clone in Hisec, to do a bit of missioning, inject some skills I had, and get some destroyers ready for the roam on the first of February. After the hop I realised that, in doing so, my +4 clone had taken 2 days off my training time for a skill I was learning. So, while completing a mission or two, I proceeded to calmly (not) communicate this reduction in learning time to my fellow Agonites, which were on TS (Team Speak) at the time. They then spent the next hour or so explaining how remapping worked, how I would go about doing this to best cater for my needs and the possible skills I could focus on to better equip me. The information they gave me was very good and communicated to me at a level I could understand. It was also pointed out that the cost of +2 implants, positioned only in the abilities I was focusing on, in my Nullsec clone was not a bad thing and not so much of an expense. Compared to the single podding I had experienced and the Nine that Eomar had had, over a three year period, supported this position. Doing the missions made me realise that the PVP environment was far more stimulating. To better understand that I could maximise my training while remaining in Nullsec was a good step forward for me. I was also made aware of the practical application of my +4 clone, in that I could use him to maximise my training, if I was to be away from EVE for a period of time. Good advice I felt. What's currently on my mind is the need to possibly start an alt account, so as to do shopping, haul needed items, provide market information and fulfill the many other activities that might require my character's presence in Hisec. There is a current deal, where you can start a second account and have 90 days for $24.95. I seem to have permission from She Who is to be Obeyed, so may pursue this in the not too distant future. I had a great article on how to make a hauler alt, which was again pointed out to me. I think this will be something I will also be looking into. Loteaus

Day Eleven, Nice and quiet... After completing my three boats, for Fridays Wolfpack class and roam, I clone hopped back home. I sat in station watching local to see who was out there. I practised looking at the profile of each person to see if there was someone I could possibly have a good encounter with... Some came on, so I hopped in to my Incursus and went to find them. No luck. I could just have found someone and lost my ship, but I wanted the loss to be meaningful. I have also completed an Excel Spreadsheet, detailing the ships I this I would have a good chance of taking. This was open and providing good intel. A Krestrel appeared near station so I went to investigate. It was setting up a cyno. I had locked him and was about to fire when a personal chat window appeared with Pinkspace saying that it was him moving items into station, close to DT. So I unlocked and allowed him, to continue. Always good to build bridges with new members. I was to discover later on that anyone not with a blue on them was to be seen as fair game. I think I like the way my budding "situational awareness" deals with situations like this. Took my Vexor out for a cruise around.... As I was wanting to find ways of earning some ISK, while staying where the PVP was, I proceeded to shoot some red crosses. As I was the only one in Agony, who was on and people with more game experience kept poking their heads into local, I got very little done. Finally, after DT some people came on and I got to see how this shooting rats in Nullsec was like. I learnt not to use normal Antimatter, unless I wanted to be in one spot for a long time. Got to practice using webs and scrams on targets too. Loteaus

Catch is pretty empty Loteaus - alt has been filling in tacs and if you play same time as me (just before/just after DT) then you should find it easy enough to rat and pvp solo. Not much traffic really apart from the Stain/Querious routes. Edit obviously HED but that's probably not #1 on your list of destinations. Most of what you see should be manageable solo - PvP-wise I mean - and there's little chance of bubblers (you'll recognise them by name now probably). Also you can start to build up your own tacs as you go. You're on the main pipe through Curse and that can sometimes be a bit intimidating when your gang is 5 people at most when you play. I remember it being much the same in Great Wildlands in Echo squad. You find a decent fight and some third-party gang arrives and welps both of you :D tl;dr if you're the only one on then go make some tacs, have a wander and learn about the locale. Frequently there's bugger all going on but worth loitering a bit to see who does what.

Day twelve, Was an awesome experience. Was only on for a short time, so proceeded the time by taking my Incursus out. Nothing interesting to report, so went back to do a bit of ratting. Left the station with my Vexor and someone said a cyno was up. Ronat and myself managed to dispatch it nicely. I think 2 Vexors were a little over-kill :D Then I began drifting from ore belt to ore belt, looking for rats of an appropriate size I thought I could handle. I noticed a Daredevil nearby on D-scan, but of grid. I was kind of hoping it was following me. I went to the next belt, where I found an appropriate number of rats. To my pleasant surprise, the Daredevil had followed me, still off grid. I had dispatched the frigates and was halfway through the armour of a Mach rat, when the Daredevil graced us with his presence. He scram, webbed me and then proceed to add his dps to the mach's, which was missing me anyway. I returned the favour, with a double webbing and a point of my own. I notified other members that I had been aggressed and was shortly joined by Ronat and Alistone. The Daredevil never stood a chance. The whole experience was quite invigorating and my heart was racing a little while after the event. $240Mil ISK kill and a 95Mil Drop. Nice! Thanks again guys for the support. Loteaus

Day thirteen.

I did have a lovely story written, but closed the window before I posted it so, I'm now going to give you the Readers Digest version.

I was belt hopping and managed to snare a Cynabal, which got away. Must make sure I fit the scram on all my Vexors, instead of the point I had mistakenly fitted to this one.

I then hoped into a system, where Jysella had pointed a Thrasher. ROX, Darak and myself joined Jysella, just after he had popped. ROX and myself completed the job Jysella had started and removed the first Thrasher from play.

Darak and ROX then removed the next Thrasher.

Darak removed another Thrasher

I was focusing on yet another Thrasher, which I saw pleasantly pop before my eyes. (my first real solo kill) :D

As more and more arrived, ROX and Darak were to see their demise next.

This left me, fighting for my life, with what was left of the opposition. I was to remove the next Thrasher's shields before I popped, sending my pod to the first celestial I could find. I love the 1600mm plates!

We then spent some time with Caldak, around the another gate. Managed to get ourselves a Purifier.

Would have posted something more colourful, but could not remember the prose I had wrote before. :(

A lot of fun none the less.

Sorry if I come across as a negative nancy (and I was going to keep my mouth shut until Othran's comment reinforced your perception) but imo a 'solo kill' is a ship you killed while roaming solo (or at least you had no gangmates fighting on grid with you,) not a ship you killed while everyone else was shooting the primary. :)

(Similarly to this guy who calls himself a 'solo pvper' when he's just suicide ganking.)

There's stages of "solo" Akjon and he's done the first part of that. The rest of his gang was dead anyway :) The next stage is to is to take on something with no backup and win. On further stages we can spilt it down again and again to fits/SP/whatever. Once you commit 1v1 and you win - and more importantly understand why you won then Eve changes for a lot of people. Doesn't have to be a great fight, just has to be one you remember.

Last time I checked there wasn't a high council of bittervets that decide what is a solo kill and what isn't. Besides, if you start making arbitrary rules about what is solo and what is not some people flying 100MN tengu's with cloaked falcons and links will start throwing a hissyfit and terms like "true solo™ will have to be invented and nobody really wants to that to happen anyway.

Day 14 was a day where not much happened. Did a little ratting, which is improving my awareness of what's in the system, not to mention my standing and bank balance. I was able to hang out with DP, Daren, Quest, Yamir. They were having some kind of pissing competition with each pulling out a bigger ship, with the hope of enticing a brawl. (jk) Had some good returns, but not so much with my involvement. I did have a role of remaining on the other side of the gate, to see if the opposition would come through, but that didn't happen. Still, it was something I could do as part of the group.

Day 15 was an enjoyable time, with quite a few people on,

First encounter was initially with Drake, caught in a bubble, off a gate, close to home. He was soon joined by a Tempest, with a vicious neut. on board. Eomar and myself were to lose our Vexors in the early days of this encounter. We both came back to the fight, where Eomar tragically lost his Vengence. Daren and Joe were keeping the fight going. I arrived with my second Vexor, at which point a Pilgrim had joined the fight. No more ships were lost on our side, however, the Tempest and Pilgrim were not so lucky. We were so happy to see such fun, and the Drake, ran away with his spoon. I was lucky enough to experience a neut. from both ships and had an overpowering desire to get me one of those! It seemed to swing the battle strongly in the opposition's favour.

The second encounter had us a Caracal and Rupture to our Killmail. Daren was on a high afterwards, so went off and released his energy upon a poor Probe cyno. ^_^

Good night.

You won this isk war this time around Loteaus and it looks like you had a decent fight o/ Neuts are lovely for ships where you're not using cap for weapons (projectiles being the poster child for this). Not so great if you use hybrids and they're a deathwish if you use lasers. See if you can get one of the Agony peeps to show you what a Curse can do to your ship. If you like neuts now then the Curse will have you drooling :) Needs recon 5, good drone and engineering skills though.
