That's just for a single player point and click adventure game. RSI is making something vastly more complex and intricate and their kickstarter netted only 2M USD. I am not at all surprised by their "money grabbing", they no doubt NEED that money.

-edit-

I just looked at their kickstarter which said 2M, but on their site they are now up to 36M invested.

Yeah, I dropped in whatever the cheapest option was with alpha access in the early days.  I wouldn't have put down money had it not be someone with his level of success and experience.  And by no means am I saying it will be a success, but I would't have dropped for a guy like Curt Schilling http://www.celebrity...o-game-company/

I do have to say, after looking at their site a bit longer and poking around, they are doing a pretty good job about providing content for the community while the game is still in development. Multiple podcasts/video-blogs/dev-blogs reporting on what they are doing, how it's going and community ideas.

Doesn't guarantee anything obviously, but a lot better approach then "thanks for the money and lets hope we can turn out a good game in 3-4 years time, cya guys then"

Yeah, the team, especially Roberts, obviously have a passion for what they are trying to acheive.  I remember spending $40-$45 on BF3 and I didn't spend enough time playing the game to make it worth it.  Even if Star Citizen fails, I can be happy that I spent $35 support a person trying to achieve their dreams compared to sinking $40 in a finished product that I didn't care to play.

There's probably few who could pull of a major development like this game from crowdfunding, but I'd say he's in that group.  Even so, any major game development funded by any means has tons of risks associated.  Not all of that risk will be mitigated by his experience either, but it definately helps!

Hi everyone!

I've pledged hard for Star Citizen and have sort of drifted away from EVE since it was announced, and I was wondering if any of you guys were planning on starting up Agony Unleashed in the Star Citizen universe?

I've been playing around inthe Elite:Dangerouse alpha and it's pretty clear to me that my dogfighting skills suck, so I would like to learn from and fly with the best, hence my joping that there would be some AU Top Guns stalking the shipping lanes in SC.

I think there will definitely be a market for a flight school as well as lots of adventure and shenanigans to be had when not teaching...

I'm big into my flight sims - I might even go so far as to say I don't entirely suck - and I know we have some other former members *cough*Weeks*cough* who are MASSIVELY into flight sims, and even one or two real pilots. IDK how Agony's Eve skill set will translate, but good comms and discipline are always a massive head start.

Hope the Occulus is ready in time for Star Commander, the potential for the combination of the two (plus Valkyrie) has me super excited, Facebook or no.

I've set up a basic org as a place for Agony affiliates to hang out, whether it expands to the point that it becomes Agony in Star Citizen remains to be seen.

So, I click update today and it says just over an hour to complete.  I think damn my internet is slow today, then I see that I have 30GB left to download.  Largest game patch ever...and I used to think Eve was bad on expansions.
