Hey Agony I've been looking at joining Agony and I've been hanging out on the public channel and talked a bit with one of your members today. The deal is I find your philopsophy to the game both when it comes to PvP and your willingness to you share your skills and knowledge awesome. This is something I would like to stand for as well and something to aspire to in my oppinion. Whats been holding me back though is that I am not the most stable gamer these days. I'm doing my masters as a visual designer, have a girlfriend and need to travel between the company I'm with and the school quite a bit. These means that while I can occasionally have a weekend where I can game for 12-15 hours, I can just as well have a week where I can only be on a couple of times and then suddenly 1-2 weeks where I am all gone. The Agony member I talked to earlier today said he believed it to be no problem, but suggested that I just tossed the ball in here to see what you guys think and to figure how others in Agony play their game. So I'm poking my nose in and saying hi and bearing whatever comes of this thread I might throw in a formal app soon. All the best. -NWS/Mavrix

Hey, NWS. Thanks for poking in. Since you've specifically asked, I should tell you that steady, protracted involvement is critical to every candidate's success in passing the trial period to join Agony.

I can't speak to official Agony policy, but I can speak from some experince. I made the mistake of starting my trial durning a particually busy time and while it started strong it ended early when I simply could not budget the time to play. I'll most likley be reapplying after I finish my first year of grad school (Ph.D.) when I know I can be on consistantly for the whole trial. Agony has pretty clear away from game (AFG) policies if I remeber. And they are very understanding of real life as long as you keep them updated on when and how long you have to be away (even trial memembers might need to go AFG for a week). Even if they have to drop you from the corp due to inactivity you shouldn't end up banned becasue of real life comitments. I'm sure Carver and the other members can work with you to make sure your schedual won't be problematic before you invest the time in a trial, but the best advice I can give you is that if you are going to start your trial, pick a time when you know you will be most active. Best of luck to you.

Right-o. Thanks to the both of you, for the replies. I just got back from travels and must probably admit to myself that I need to look for a corp which can afford to have a less stable member in its ranks, as I spend half my time in a suitcase this semester. So maybe later, once I am graduated and have a job as an awesome game artist, I'll come lurking again. I might catch one of your classes for kicks though. All the best,
