Chess
Games are fun because of who you play them with.
If you're not having fun you're doing it wrong.

Is that Conway's Game of Life, or the boardgame?

Either is probably a decent choice! :P

Would it be considered black humor if I were to answer Russian Roulette?

Try wei-c'hi, or Go as it's known in the west. I used to be a pretty good chess player, but Go I find much harder.
Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?

Yeah - whilst computers can easily beat Chess grandmasters these days, computers can barely even challenge intermediate Go players, simply because there is so much more depth to the strategy.
