I loved how we were taking out ships specifically set up to kill us! Great class. Most of it was a review for me, but I did learn a few new things, such a spiraling... I had an idea similar to it, but never put it into practice. There was a few other nifty little things I picked up as well that I didn't know before. Well worth the ISK. I'd definitely recommend it to others!

TBH I'm glad that Command Ship pilot was mature enough to sit there and tank us rather than blasting us out of the sky. Apparently there was a pilot in ANZAC channel saying how a fleet of 30-odd frigates descended on him and couldn't dent his nighthawks tank :) The Megathron at the end I actually felt sorry for, and I'm kind of glad he got his pod away. I'm hoping the Agony Instructors (AIs? lol) can perhaps give us an insight into his tactics - I never heard the armour repairer cycle (I had effects off so wouldn't see the green glow) and he never launched his WarriorII light drones. The latter I'm assuming was so that if he *did* escape he wouldn't be stuck in local space on an aggro timer (I doubt we had him jammed), The former... I'm unsure about except Blu thinks he might have been on a passive armour tank - although as I recall we took his armour down faster than his shields. \\' Don't mess with us Hardcore Carebears; we'll cuddle you to death.

I'd prefer to think that the amazingly clever tactics we had taught you made it impossible for him to take you guys out. Then again, I didn't witness that engagement, so all I can do is make guesses.

Not launching his drones was either pilot error, or an attempt to de-aggress. I've lost count of the number of PVP engagements I've been in where I forgot to deploy drones. When you're desperately trying to lock targets, bring your guns to bear, manage ewar and tank, it's very very easy to forget drones.

It's harder to answer about the armor repairer. Running a full rack of t2 neutron blasters in a mega is absolutely devastating to your capacitor levels, so it's possible that he was relying on a passive armor tank. It's also possible that he didn't have any tank fitted at all - with t2 blasters and a rack of weapon upgrades in his low slots, he'd be able to smash his opponent's tank really quickly - when your opponent has been killed, you don't have to worry about tanking his dps. We can't rule out pilot error. The other possibility is that he was convinced he was going to lose, and wasn't in the mood to engage his tank to simply prolong the engagement.

It's a wonderful thing to be innocent, cheerful, and killing people, all at the same time.

Thanks for the course. I learned a heap, it was well worth it (although my corp paid, it was still something worth paying for). At the end there, whilst we were outside the Torrinos gate, moving ever so slowly towards it, I clicked on Dez's ship and selected 'Warp To', but I had selected the gate, not his ship (they were overlaid on top of each other). The game promptly warped me there, I tried CTRL-SPACE but of course since I was aligned and going at AB speeds, I was not able to stop the warp. Once I hit (literally) the stargate, I was right clicking on it to get the JUMP command up, and it would not show. My ship was quickly destroyed, my pod appeared, and I STILL could not click on the gate and get the jump menu up. So I got podded. I'd like to have seen more action than what we did, it seemed to me that the one ship (Penny) was the bane of the course, and that we -could- have taken her had we been coordinated enough; there was never any consolidated effort to get her. Awesome time, thanks for running a good course. Ex

I hear the lag was bad, but something that might be worth trying (and the method we would recommend anyway) is to left click on the gate (on your overview if you have gates on, otherwise in space), then spam the "jump" button that appears above the overview "selected item" section. The right click menu can be a bit of a pain and seems to suffer when there is lag.

Glad to hear you mostly enjoyed the course, though. All students are welcome to attend again free of charge as many times as they like as alumni, either for the whole class or just for the pack afterwards.

I wasn't first to the wreck, but I didn't see a repper when I got there. There were two 1600 RT plates in the wreck (one of which I scooped for future Rupture usage) and two EAN IIs listed as destroyed on the mail.

I think the drones were probably kept in to avoid agro in case he could reach the gate. When that proved hopeless, he had the presence of mind to preselect an object to warp his pod to. You can almost always get away in your pod if you're not lagging badly and you start spamming the warp button right before your ship explodes.

As for the blasters, I've seen blasterthrons before and they ARE very effective if not properly engaged. I recall one that scored a lot of solo kills against my previous alliance because he liked to hang out on the 0.0 side of an empire gate and pick his fights very carefully. When he got badly blobbed, he'd deagress, jump, and escape into empire. There was speculation that he was fitted with an officer tank. But when he finally got trapped and destroyed we found a standard T2 tank. He just killed too quickly for his opponents to seriously dent it. I tackled him once on that same gate during one of his escapes and he tried putting a blaster on me and quickly put it back on a larger, slower target when it couldn't hit the rifter. He just ignored my damage after that and never even bothered to put a drone on me. He eventually jumped out through the gate when more heavy hitters showed up to the fight.

just wondering Dez do you only need to be in class or are there also some requirements you place to get graduated? :) jk

You need to have some PvP experience to have applied the materials in class, so once we have a few kills in, I take a screencap.
