Greetings all,

Some of you may know me from my PVP basic videos, but for those that do not, a bit of background.

My (ingame) name is Arkole Blake. I have been playing EVE online for slightly over 5 years, and have been a member of Agony Unleashed for ~1 3/4 years.

This is my first attempt at breaking into the (currently) highly competitive market of ingame lotteries. The second post in this thread will include a copy of the EVE-O thread which details the Prizes and how to enter.

Before we get to that tho, I would like to offer some pointers for those interested in learning how tell the difference between your standard 'Jita spam' lotto scam and the (many) legitimate ingame lotterys. (It is also relivent to note that what commonly is refered to as a 'lottery' or 'lotto' in EVE is more accurately what most people would refer to as a 'raffle' in RL)

First and formost, like most endevors in eve, always check the sellers references, do not take 'their word' for it. (including mine)

A legitimate Lottery will always™ consist of several basic 'safegaurds' which protect both the buyer and the seller.

1) 'Secured' by a well-known, trusted third party.
This is an established personality who has been paid by the lottery 'seller' to hold the prizes(or ISK equivelent to thier value) for the duration of the lottery and will contract them to the winners upon completion. Depending on the third parties preferences, they may also conduct the actual 'draw', but it is not uncommon for the 'seller' to handle the 'draw' (more on this below) There are a few exceptions to this, such as lottos bieng held by said well-known trusted third parties themselves, who have more to lose by running a scam and thus ruining thier 'good name' than they would gain from running off with the items and/or ISK.
A few examples of trusted third parties would be Chribba, Darknesss(with three 's'es), and Grendell (there are a few others, but these are the three that I personally have the most experience with)

2) Posted in the Sell Orders forum on Eve-O.
This post will outline the Prizes, the Draw method used, the Number of tickets that will be avalible, and not only Name the third party securing the lottery, but contain a post from them stateing that they are infact securing said lottery and holding the prizes. (agian there are rare exceptions, but almost all legitamate operations will have an EVE-O post) A secondary benifet of an EVE-o post is that many people that purchase tickets regularly watch lotto's held there closely and scams (or 'legitimate' operations with built in extraordinary profit margins) are usually flamed out of existance very quickly.

3) Public API-verified Ticket tracking.
The site used varies depending on the participating third party, but the most common one is Eve-Lotteries. Regardless of the site used, you should be able to go to the site and look up your name to see what ticket number(s) you have purchased, the total number of tickets issued, and the number of tickets sold/still avalible.

4)Publicly verifiable draw method.
The most popular (and IMO most secure) method used is 'Roll the dice' (also and possibly more well known as 'Chribba's Dice')
This tool allows the 'seller' (or third party) to set the number of tickets that will be sold and number of 'draw's to be made, then 'lock' them before the lottery begins. No one, including the seller, third party, or Chribba, can see what the numbers are until they are 'unlocked' at which time the numbers become viewable (and thus can be verified) by anyone. The system time stamps both the 'lock' and 'unlock' time and date so that it is easy to tell that the numbers were 'rolled' before the lotto began and were not reviled until after it was completed. (there are a couple of other methods used, but this one in particular would be very difficult to fake)




As always, there is a chance that someone will find a clever way to scam that appears to be legitimate, but if you check for these 'guidelines' in most cases your money will be 'safe' (or as safe as it can be in such an endevor as all lotto's or raffles are a form of gambling, so never wager more than you can afford to lose)

I hope at least some of you will find this information useful, and feel free to ask any questions you may have in this thread.

There will be a total of 1000 tickets @ 10m(10,000,000) isk each, giveing you a 1 in 100 chance of winning with a single ticket.
The winners will be determined using 'Chribba's Dice' and can be confirmed *here*
The lottery will end when the last ticket is sold (I reserve the right to close it early if sales drop off and I feel enough have been sold to justify it)
In the event that the lottery drags on too long and does not look likely to sell out in a resonable time period(determined by me), I will refund all purchased ticket cost and Darknesss will return the prizes to me.

To purchase a ticket you send the amount of tickets you want x 10 Mil isk to Arkole Blake with the reason ab01(zero one). Tickets are tracked automatically and you can check them *here*. (the system may take up to 2 hours to update after the isk has been sent)


ISK sent without the ab01 reason code will be considered a donation, ISK sent with the ab01 code but in an amount which is not a multiple of 10mil will get you the number of tickets divisible by 10mil and the extra is kept as a gift.

Therefore:
If you want one ticket, send 10,000,000 ISK to Arkole Blake with the reason ab01
If you want two tickets, send 20,000,000 ISK to Arkole Blake with the reason ab01
and so forth

Additionally
If you were to send 19,999,999 (for example) you would get 1 ticket and I keep the extra 9,999,999
If you were to send 9,999,999(or less) you would get nothing but my gratitude for the free isk.

I have decided to add 10 'bump'bonus draws.(up to 300m in bonus prizes)

Bonus draw details:
1) Each draw is assigned a range of 100 numbers. (1-100,101-200,201-300,ect)
2) Draws will be unlocked between 12 and 24 hours after the last ticket of thier group has been purchased, or at the time of the Main Lotto draw, whichever comes first.
3) The dice rolls have been made and locked (links listed below)
3) In order to be eligible to win a bonus prize the holder of the (potential) winning ticket number must have posted in this thread confirming thier ticket purchase before the draw has been unlocked
4) In the event that the holder of the potential wining ticket has not posted, the dice will be re-rolled, locked for 24 hours and a new ticket number chosen.(this process will be repeated until a valid winner is chosen)
5) In order to be fair to those that have bought tickets early, current ticket holders are bieng given until 00:01 on 05 July
6) The original bonus prize of 25m will still be awarded (assuming the main prize winner has posted in this thread)

By popular request I have now added a special bonus draw.

Every pilot holding 25 tickets or more when the main lotto is filled will be entered into the 'High Roller' bonus draw.

1)Qualified ticket holders will also recieve one additional entry per five tickets purchased beyond twenty-five.(thus, 25 tickets = 1 entry, 30 tickets = 2 entrys, 35 tickets = 3 entrys etc)
2)Due to the unknown number of entries allowed in this draw, the dice will be rolled when the main draw is filled, then locked for one hour before being revield so that people have time to view and confirm it is a valid roll
3)Ticket numbers will be assigned in an unedited post in this thread immediatly after the dice is rolled and locked.

The Prize for this bonus draw will be 1 Orca Capital industrial ship.

Edited to fix some broken links. Also, the eve-lotteries site is having some issues atm(some people are getting blocked or site-not-found errors when trying to view thier tickets) I have little influence over fixing this as it is a 3rd party site that I have paid to do the ticket tracking. I am looking into alternitives to make it easier for everyone to track thier ticket numbers. This issue does not change the lottery tho and tickets are still being tracked properly(I can access the site fine myself, not sure why others cannot.) Rest assured that any current, previous, or future tickets purchased will still count toward the lotto and if they do not fix thier problems soon™ I will be moving tracking to somone that will. -Ark (540 tickets remaining at the time of this post)
