I've seen this exploit this morning while making tacs. I watched an Amarr FW player (who I liked a lot) wander past my cloaked alt while not appearing in local. He jumped. I followed. He appeared on-grid but not in local. The other thing I noticed is that the EVE System > Channel changed to xxx Local Channel didn't appear when I jumped in. I've been noticing strange things on local all week - the missing channel change message and the total lack of chat in a system where I know there should be. We (minnie militia) have had a few people complaining of chat channels not loading - intel channels, not default - when people login although there's no chat in the default channels which do appear. They move a system and relog and its fine. Same thing has been happening with people appearing to be offline for fleet/chat invites which makes me wonder if this is a way of detecting someone in local exploiting. Not sure how you'd go about testing this without violating EULA. I'll leave you lot to ponder that, I'm off down the pub for lunch 8)

I just realized that my own (x-)corporation were on the recieving end of these PL members just a few weeks ago. A corp member nearly lost a carrier, but someone managed to jam the arazu with a scorpion and the carrier made it out. No word on whether or not there were any suspicious behaviour with the local channel on the occation.

Ofcourse they are claiming its a troll. they dont want people using it and they wanna keep it for themselves as long as possible lol.

It was only a matter of time before someone worked it out i mean after all, with the 2sec timer on the directional scanner now, and the second you jump into local catching ratters is a pain in the arse.

I think if people are using it then they should be banned as technically manipulating the game to suit you, or using something that clearly is wrong/broken to your own benefit is an exploit but at the same time, you can't really blame them.

I think all you need here is control of a decent firewall. NB - I mean one that will do packet inspection based on a filter YOU set. I think the Eve local/corp chat is pretty predictable. A quick look with an old version of Ethereal suggests it really isn't difficult to do what is being suggested. Shame. I still stick to what I said before. If it isn't directly affecting you - and HAS affected you in the past - then don't let it get to you. If it has then I don't know what to say, I should have taken screenies of the guy I saw doing it but when you see someone you (sort of) know then you assume you're bugged rather than them exploiting :sad: I was reasonably happy with Eve before this crap, I'm still reasonably happy with it. Another load of people cheating, its not like its ever going to change is it? People always do it.

Hotfix is deployed as of DT today. Now I'm sure Monkeysphere will be able to keep up his kill stats (along with quite a lot of other PL people/alts - some of whom are not very far at all from Agony) won't he? Anyone like to bet that he/they will?

People will be keeping a very close eye on those stats going forward. Assuming the people in question haven't been banned

It was mentioned in a couple of threads that at the very least Monkey and all his alts have been banned already. Though it's hard to believe what you read in most of those eve-o/scrapheap threads

Having the same skepticism, I put Monkey on my address list after he was "banned." I saw him log in and out a number of times this weekend.
